Boney is #1 dog in my books. That scene where they dress him in human clothes to get into the nightclub and the bouncer is like "what's with this dog looking kid" was one of the funniest moments in any rpg ever.

The irony? One of my neighbors had 3 subsequent Australian Shepherds like Angelo in the last 20 years of his life. The first and last were two of the sweetest dogs you'd know. The latest one loved to play with my brother's kids when she could (less so when my niece and nephew started school two years ago). Sadly, said neighbor passed away 2 years ago from bladder cancer (he was a long-time smoker). His widow, unfortunately, has appeared to have moved out of the neighborhood and took the current dog with her. :(

Goofy deserves props for having the best abilities of any party mate in kh1. He can restore mp without ethers and has the only partywide heal that heals as much as megapotions. Theres almost no reason to ever replace goofy in different worlds.

Glad to see Shadow Hearts get another rep in these lists. That game is just too underrated. Love what they did with his skill progression, especially since that's the only time you get to hear his voice. And what a badass voice, too!

Dang, this list is spot-on. Thank you for the immediate clarification that they needed to be party members, by the way – I would've been baffled by the lack of Angelo otherwise. That said, Nanaki has my whole heart, and I'm hoping FF7R Part II does him the justice he deserves, so to see that good good boi topping the list warmed my heart. Keep up the great work, good sir!

Man, I love games that give non human party members, and they don’t even need to be monsters, dogs are just fantastic, be them cute and loyal, intimidating and protective, wise and patient, or all the above. Nowadays all we get is jrpg full of humans, like, give me my limitless fantasy back please!
