I wonder if they got down from the tree because other people saw them. Just imagine other people in the cul-de-sac seeing Double D naked. Jimmy would be like "My eyes! They're burning!" Sarah would cover his eyes. Kevin would puke like the time Eddy pulled his pants down in front of him. Nazz would be grossed out. Rolf would probably say someone was like that in his village. Johnny would laugh and say something great for Double D. And for the Kanker Sisters, Marie would like what she sees.

I wonder if the boomerang brought out the unconscious desire of who ever holds it and manifests
Ed: Wants to be seen more than an idot and considering we do see instances that Ed may not be dumb just that his mind works differently to other people.
Edd: Wants to be carefree and not wound up so tight all the time. This unfortunately manifests into public stripping
Eddy: Secretively actually cares about other people but all those years of abuse from his brother and mental gymnastics of thinking becoming like his brother squashed his inner compassion.
Jimmy: Wants to have the backbone and strength to stand up to his tormentors
Sarah: Wants to have the caring relationship siblings are supposed to have but their mother's negative influence destroyed that.
Rolf: Wants to be more than some farmer boy and become an opera singer, but his family had indoctrinated him so hard into rejecting these dreams that he managed to retain some of his consciousness even when under the boomerang influence
