InPresence 0066: Resonance with a Previous Personality

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he revisits the suggestion that he was the American psychologist and philosopher, William James, in a past-lifetime. While he lacks evidence to support this hypothesis, he admits he finds that the possibility of such a connection stimulates his imagination. In particular, he examines the potential past-life identification with his mentor, Arthur M. Young, and William James' father, the iconoclastic Henry James, Sr.

Dear Dr. Mishlove, I will be watching this monologue again. There are lots of material in it to ponder about.
To answer your question, I resonate with Arthur M. Young. I listen to his conversations with you, Mr. Bloch, and Mr. Fauvre about everyday!
I shall write more comment on this monologue.
It might sound crazy, but sometimes I imagine I am conversing with Arthur M. Young.
Thank you for your great work, Dr. Mishlove.

You're being compared to a person who was a positive influence on the world. That's a nice position to be in.. Whether or not it's true, it's till a compliment to find that others find similarities to James. I'd have a lot of difficulty accepting that I was somebody famous. It seems like the odds would be against it. But still, famous people are reborn, too, so some of us must have been historical figures in some previous attempt at life.

Jeffrey Mishlove: Martha ADF did enjoy to felt your presence, but she strongly disagrees with ego sacrifice, because she is a sensitive psychic person who is suffering about this very issue: there are ignorant people who think to "kill" the ego is the path to spirituality, but ego is very important to be developed so much as the self.

I just accept as a matter of fact or never really doubted who you are. I love that one particular segment on reincarnation. Just ten minutes ago i was thinking;" please excuse me for my english, it's american, and I haven't figured it all out yet" after leaving a previous comment on music

Have you ever visited any of the settings of his life?
That might prompt your long-term memory. I live near a few of them: Newport, Cambridge, Harvard. He's buried in Cambridge Cemetery, so if you were he, you're buried there, too--just kidding! Imagine how confusing it would be if we all remembered all of our lives. Who am I? Who are you? Who wants to know?

Poetic resonance, indeed!

I was Lot's sister --
Passed by the pillar-in-law out of Gomorrah,
Wishing I could just stay home,
Firebrand angels in pursuit.

Anaximander was my name one time;
Milesian sailor of the apeiron,
Left Thales for Apollonian shores,
In spare time invented gnomon.

Once again a Tulku rose
And pegged Avalokiteshvara on the nose.
When Maitreya shows up finally, I suppose,
He'll have to Bardo,
Then who knows?

(Apologies to poetry lovers and pious devotees of any path)

I think I misquoted him. I think he said, Reincarnating is as easy as changing your clothes. I don't know a lot about him, he seems to be a benign person. I don't know what a "transhumanist" is. From Jeffrey's videos, I'm learning there's plenty I don't know about the paranormal. Much of my focus is on words and sometimes I choose the wrong ones or use too many.

Maybe Brian Weiss can help you Jeff, his books about reincarnation cases and techniques are really mind blowing

If we've all lived many lives, we've all died many deaths. The Dalai Lama says that dying is like changing your clothes--easy for him to say!

Being female I have to abandon my gender to have a decent historical selection to choose from. Seems like through history we're stuck with the kids in a tattered dress lol.

Oh no...I feel the beginning of a feminist rant coming on. Cold shower.
