I'll wait for an alloy version of the Amflow

Almost bought the Rise last summer but Orbea did not offer a build with the SRAM axis transmission in the LT. Waiting to see about long term reliability and support in the U.S. for DJI. AmFlow sounds like a game changer. Thanks for your review.

Awsome review gents enjoyed listening to all your input in these two bikes, I’m in the narrow out stage on what I’m going to buy for my first e-bike and I’m thinking it’ll be the amflow but I’m still to test the turbo levo SL…
Thanks again 🍻

now please sell the Amflow in the USA!

to me that's kind of crazy, the top notch engineers at Shimano and it's the 4th generation with same clunks going down and no innovation.

Definitely going to buy an Amflow once you can delimit the DJI motor. My Haibike with Bosch CX motor and 1135Wh battery with its range extender is hard to beat for long distance trail riding.

Thanks for the comparison. I had the first Orbea Rise and enjoyed it. I remember seeing Orbea was going to give you the option to switch between 60 and 85 NM's. Too bad they don't let you have control over the wattage output, as well. Still, i would choose the AMFLOW, and will when they are available in the USA. Until then, will keep rocking my Pivot Shuttle SL. Thanks again.

I thought the RS-ep801 could now be turned all the way up to 85nm and over run should be tunable as well.

A far comparison in my opinion since you mentioned you had to tune tune tune the suspension on the Amflow. The Rise is easily updated with the race firmware makes it a completely different Ride!

I've seen many reviews that say the bars and stem on the Amflow aren't the best. I think from what ive seen the stem is the main issue.

My Cannondale Moterra SL with the Shimano EP801 is so flipping noisy, it sounds like a Tie Fighter is coming in for the attack, great bike but Shimano needs to move on, especially as i live in the UK and i spent a lot of time chasing damp connections during the winter (and i never jet wash bikes!!). I test rode the Amflow this weekend gone and a Cube One44 with the new Bosch and both were very close to my Trek Fuel Exe in noise but with a lot more power. I looked at the Rise also, but with my Shimano experiences i'll definitely be going with the DJI Avinox or latest Bosch.

I don't have an Ebike but when it comes to range would the fact you can run the Amflow at around half (maybe trail setting all the time) power and be in the same ball park power wise? Would this not get you more range?

Super fun and interesting video to be part of. Both bikes are great bikes without a doubt, but there's just one winner...

Thank you Sam, enjoyed the review. I ride a first generation YT Decoy in the Lake District, Cumbria, UK. The environment is very hard on bikes and compared to friends who are now on their third e-bike, mine has been very reliable. I've had to keep myself fit to keep up with their latest models and higher torque from Specialized and Rocky Mountain. I know it is early days for the amflo but I would be interested to know your thoughts on reliability albeit you ride in a much dryer environment.
Also you talk of "sweet spots", I would be interested in seeing a video on how you find this and know when you have achieved it.
Lastly do you know if amflow are intending to bring out an increased range in model sizes or if they (DJI) - I'm not sure if DJI and amflow are one of the same, are intending selling their motor systems to other bike manufacturers for next year which to my mind seems likely given it's successful introduction.

On the amflow with big battery, how many miles would you get on say medium speed? Also can it be chipped even more? lol

It really looks like you're able to slam the seat post considerably more on the amflow. Is that the camera angle? Also how long of a dropper?

When it comes to super-light full-power trail e-bikes, the Whyte ELyte Evo Stag Works or the Cannondale Moterra SL would’ve been a better comparison to the Amflow PL instead of the Orbea Rise. Orbea limits the power on the motor as you mentioned, whereas Whyte do not. SL e-bikes with full power are what you are comparing in this test, right?

In America where the anti-ebike hate is a problem, motors like the DJI that continue to raise the the power and assist levels are fuel on the fire for the hate. I actually hopemthe DJI doesn’t come here. My brother and I are both gettingbready to turn 70 and do big rides with 4, 000+ ft of climbing. 85nm of torque is more than enough. We only use boost when we are climbing sections that are very steep. We ride mostly in eco or trail. Then the derestricting motor practises add another level of moving farther away from an actual bike ride. This is moving into electric motorcycle territory. I’m not against them, but this level of power and speed available doesn’t belong on mountain bike specific trails..
