Hey all! In this video we go over the a bunch of performance tips for AetherSX2! AetherSX2 does require a fairly powerful device (Snapdragon 845 or better) for optimal performance. If you have a lower powered device, this video might help out!

Biggest performance tip. Use EU Roms. Free 15% performance boost which is huge. Eu maxes out at 50 fps, vs the US 60. Game runs at the same speed, just less frames to process.

Actually I select “Async” instead of “None”. For me it seems to play the audio smoother by not forcing it to sync with the video which - smoother audio playback at the cost of audio being in exact sync is definitely worth it!

This video helped me the most! I wanted to play god of war 1/2 on my android and it runs on 40-60%. But after you mentioned about the EE Cycle Rate and EE Cycle Skip, i suddenly have 80-120% gameplay! Thanks.

Alot of people don't mention it but if you tap on the i button next to the 3 dots there will be an added option to choose from which is the game fixes tab.

Thank you so much for organising these tips into one place, I wanted to play Persona 4 and Dragon Quest 5 PS2 on my RG353M and these tips make them run pretty well, the voice acting on P4 is slightly slow but manageable

after updating my galaxy s20 plus to android 12 things have changed drastically.before, with android 11 aethersx2 it was bad with both opengl and vulkan api, with android 12, with opengl bloody roar 4 it goes badly while with vulkan it's exactly the contrary, very fluid gameplay even at 4x resolution, stable framerate at 50 fps, exceptional !! at this point it seems obvious to me that the problem was the phone software and not the poor optimization of the emulator for the exynos.

Please make a video on upscaling tips . I can't get rid of this bloom in God of war 2 . I have tried the upscaling hacks from the advanced settings, but it's still the same .

It works. Setting my phone to performance mode makes God hand runs on 100% speed. (SD 712)

What really sucks is that (correct me if I'm wrong) the Android 12 update or OneUI 4 to be specific on Samsung phones completely broke OpenGL.. none of my emulators work while using OpenGL, including Aethersx2 and Dolphin. Hope it gets fixed soon, it really sucks having to use software rendering... P.S. I use a Samsung galaxy s21 ultra (exynos)
UPDATE : The Vulkan rendered is somehow completely functional now !! Not sure if it was from an update for my phone or the emulator itself (pretty sure it was from the phone because other emulators are now working too), but things are running BEAUTIFULLY! :D
UPDATE #2 : Bug fixes for Mali GPUs came out with the alpha-1058 update !! HUGE.

I think it's wrong to assume that switching to PAL will automatically improve performance. Back in the days of the PS2 we still had CRT TVs and PAL had a higher resolution than NTSC. So I guess it depends if the performance is being impacted by resolution or frame rate.

My phone runs DBZ BT3 at full speed but when I upscale the resolution there's like a weird outline around characters.
If anyone knows anything about that, I'd appreciate the help.

If some people notice a massive dip in performance in games like midnight club 3 ill consider messing around with the CRC hack. Ive set mine to aggressive and the game is running at the correct speed from the previous update. Although my s9 dosent run the game at 60fps 100 20fps -30fps 100% is more than enough for me

Reset settings did the trick, in fatal frame when a ghost appeared it would drop 40fps, now its constant 60, another with the updates Kuon is playable now, except the ghosting effect but onc3 TC offset it added (unless it's in advance but my app crashes every time I go there.)

For exynos owners. OpenGL tends to perform better. In some games Vulkan is awful.
Tried with with s10 with exynos 9820.

very good tips. i have a retroid pocket 3+ for mobile gaming. not all options are still existing in the menu, a year has past, but i got ratchet and clank 1 and tekken 4 under better conditions. nice for an handheld which has less power then a phone but more then a switch
