As long as Europe keeps backing Ukraine, Russia will not be able to pose a threat to anyone.


Also draftees are not nearly as good as volunteers in the military.

Interesting omission in this video. Finland is not mentioned at all even though Finland never abolished its conscription, and also happens to be the closest country to Russia’s important border regions, including Saint Petersburg and the Kola peninsula. Conscription is for men only - even though women can serve voluntarily - and is mostly obligatory. You can choose to do civilian service but it is proportionally not a very popular option as it carries some stigma. You can also be exempted on health grounds if you are unfit to serve or unstable enough to cause danger to others when handed a gun. The net result is that most adult male Finns have gone through 6-12 months of relatively good-quality military training, and in wartime, Finland would be able to enroll one of the largest militaries in Europe. Which of course is a good deterrent for Russia, who tried to annex Finland in WWII but failed to do so, and would fail again if they ever tried to repeat that mistake. NATO membership is a good extra but Finland’s own Defence Forces, together with their reserves, are pretty well capable of defending the country also on their own, if need be.

i was drafted 20 years ago.. and i honestly learned 2 very impostrant skills in life... one is how to clean windows... the other is to know when to stfu, both important skills in life :p

yea so? in Sweden its mandatory to do the military service, it was just for 7ish years it was voluntary. and now we are back to mandatory military service at 18.
And BTW it´s ALWAYS been mandatory in Sweden to join the military or Civil defence in case of invasion and defending the country! No man in Sweden are allowed to leave, just as in Ukraine. plane and simple old laws that we adhere to. So dont think that you wont be fighting just cuz you didn't do the the "new version" of military service! YOU WILL! And the new version is just the first step out of 3 steps, it will become more mandatory with time. this is done to avoid people leaving before a war breaks out then Russia attacks!


I have seen people being upset with Ukraine also has mandatory defence service/force. IT NORMAL here in Europe! its only USA and a very few others who has voluntary forces. And USA more or less lives on their on "island" you dont need everyone to pick up arms, and you are 300+ million people. so there is no need to have a law forcing you in to service dose not mean other nations needing it!

The Draft in Sweden will be aimed for all men in the country and will be given either a military force "job station" or if you are fat and lacy you will be put in to a civil service there your skills are needed. like cooking, policing, warehouse, weapon manufacturing, ammunition manufacturing. Base and defence building and so on! There will jobs to be done to make sure Sweden works and can defend our self´s. IF you are lucky you get a letter saying "in case of XXX happening you need to be at location XXX to do this XXX work" and until you get that letter giving you a task to do, you will be working for your "privet employeer" until the nation needs you.

so this "terrible draft" crap talk in the video is just so aimed for Americans who dont know how it works in Europe and make it seams like its terrible.

The draft should have never stopped here in the U.S. we’ve removed the feel of giving something to your country . I did by volunteering it helped me grow and look at the world with a different view that only came by going overseas . 😊

You missed Canada as a country that didn’t use conscription. Hell, we didn’t use it in WW1 till 1917, and in WW2 till 1944.

Imo Russia is not capable of an all-out war with Europe, because that would include the US. As powerful as the US is, I think they are still underestimated. Their supply chain is obscenely effective, especially compared with Russia. But I doubt either countries want an all-out war, it's simply not beneficial for either.

I already live in a country with draft, next to russia. Having russia as a neighbor is the worst thing about our country.
