I dont think enough credit is given to European ship building for trade. When the ottomans cut off the silk road they had to look for other avenues and their technology advanced.

Yongle Emperor who did the most with the treasure fleets also waged the most campaigns against northern nomads. The reason behind the abandonment of the fleets was more with power struggles of the merchant classes and protectionism of the imperial authorities.

i think the Europeans advanced s quick because of competition to they fought each other non stop so they had to get better and better at war as well as farming production and leisure activities eventually the competitive nature just helped them thrive

My theory for why Europe and essentially the whole Western world developed faster:
-Already had borrowed technology from Asian civilizations such as gunpowder and compass, first used them to colonize the continents with far lower technological levels (Americas and Africa).
-The new conquered continents provided Europeans more resources, which means they were getting richer and had more money to fund more scientific research, resulting in more scientific discoveries, which basically created a snowball effect (colonization-technology-more colonization-more technology) until they started the industrial era and ruled over almost the whole world.
-Christianity may have also played an important role in development of European science, since according to Christian faith, God made us beings with rational minds for a purpose, and putting effort in understanding God's creation is a way to honour God, so Europeans had more motivation for research and scientific mindset because of these beliefs.

Most European countries only started to appear shortly after the fall of the Roman Empire roughly in the 5-7th Century it's quite late compared to other countries outside of Europe but some countries in Europe such as Greece and Italy are among the oldest

The GG&S arguments are largely nonsense, particularly the stuff about domestication of animals. Sure, a bison, cape buffalo or Zebra doesn't seem very docile when compared to domestica cattle or horses and donkeys, but the auroch ancestors of domestic cattle were as large or larger than cape buffalo and we have no reason to think they were any less aggressive than other wild bovine species. Also, the wild ancestor of the horse was small, far less robust, and likely wild and living a similar lifestyle, albeit in the steppes of Asia, to Zebra. The stuff about climate, which largely incoherent over time, fails to explain the Indo-European expansion, which was really the first widespread conquests and dispersion of language and technology by Europeans, and these migrations and conquests involved many different climates. The most PC factors are likely the early domestication of the horse and adult lactose tolerance.

What really turbocharged the development was (quite accidentally) the fact that their method of writing was particularly suited to printing with moveable type. Arabic and Chinese were not.

Despite having colonies the European states were generally weaker both economically and politically comparing them to China, The Indian States(Mughals, Sikhs, Marathas) and the Ottomans at least till late 18 century.
