Look I don't want to keep dissing Boeing's Starliner, so I hope they can fix the problems.
Meanwhile SpaceX's Crew Dragon could fly in May, and Europa Clipper is looking increasinly likely to take a ride on a commercial rocket.

"this stuff just writes itself"
...unlike the software tests, a fact that Boeing management deeply regrets.

So basically Boeing almost pulled the KSP mistake of having your fingers shifted over by a key on the RCS controls

Guys from Boeing just forgot to click "control from here" after staging

The testing must have been as thorough as the testing of the pins on the parachutes .. you know the parachute that flew off on reentry because it wasn’t actually attached. Now they are going to yank the attachment to make sure someone has actually put the pin in this time .. my gosh! And the recent recommendation to essentially hand over full control to Boeing for the manned missions to the moon on price plus ... dear lord.

I think Boeing should be forced to perform another test flight and eat the cost as a show of good faith in their own product

Boeing obviously have a very serious quality system issue. The Starliner issues as well as the 737 Max shortfalls are of the same origin. Its enterprise culture.

"We fixed this problem in flight, isn't that awesome?"

Jesus Christ, it's the Space Shuttle and the O-ring safety factor of 3 all over again.

I know a lot of Boeing folks...and Boeing is no longer an Engineer Company, they are a Wall street company. It's about getting it done, not getting it right. The next quarter matters, not the future.

Wasn't starliner also supposed to be available much earlier than Crew Dragon in exchange for getting significantly more funding...? 🤔

$4 billion dollars to spend and they save money on coding talent. Epic fail.

Imagine trying to find logic errors with zero testing:

"It compiled! It's definitely good, toss it on the big metal thinger ASAP!!!"
