The joke that kinda went over your head is that Conan had a late night show on NBC but got fired and at this time had his show on TBS (owned by Warner Bros)

the NBC envelope thing was that conan got offered the tonight show on NBC to replace jay leno. i think he started doing shows, then after some time, NBC decided to have both leno and conan, but bump conan's time slot to after 12. he wasn't happy about that and ended up leaving, and leno took the old show back. he was prohibited from doing talk show things for a while, so did a live tour instead, then re-started his talk show on TBS. i think he did that for 10 years before he retired it, and now he's doing podcast and travel show things.

Sauerkraut is awesome--put is on a hot dog with onions, chili (beef or other), then mustard. To die for. Also, sauerkraut is a traditional New Year's Day meal here--with port loin cooked in it slowly and also kielbassa in there, too with other spices. Really cooks right in a crock pot--slow cooking for hours. Proper sauerkraut is just the shredded cabbage, spices and salt allowed to properly ferment. I want some now.

Theres a also a full documentary called Conan OBrien Cant Stop which is all about the time period after he was booted out of NBC and went on the road doing live shows
