A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah will take effect at 4am local time on Wednesday, November 27, US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday at the White House.

It is hoped that the deal, brokered by the United States and France, will allow for the cessation of hostilities and enable displaced Lebanese civilians to return to their communities.

President Biden took a moment in his speech to say that the people of Gaza also "deserve an end to the fighting and displacement", and shared that he is "praying" a ceasefire deal can also be brokered for them before the end of his presidential term.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier stated that he was prepared to honour the ceasefire deal but warned that Israel would respond "forcefully" if Hezbollah violates the agreement.
