A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has come into effect in Lebanon after 14 months of fighting.

It began at 04:00 local time (02:00 GMT) on Wednesday, putting an at-least temporary end to the conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed armed group.

US President Joe Biden said the ceasefire aimed to be a "permanent cessation of hostilities".

Thousands of Lebanese civilians have started returning to their homes in the south of the country, but Israel has warned that it is not yet safe to return to certain areas.

You mean Lebanon launching 9, 000+ rockets until the other side took it to them. It was 9 months of Hez launching till they got what they asked

Did some people here actually watched the news before commenting? Sigh...

I've refrained from commenting on these wars, but just look at how peaceful a world without war can be.

There is a ceasefire because of the IDF. They took care of those who started the war and rejected previous ceasefire deals. Nasrallah, Sinwar, and Hanyieh can not block the deal from their graves

What's the status of these hostages?

Comments are ridiculous….
Every step towards peace is met with derision.
How people can be unhappy with any step forward is beyond me!
It’s like you’d rather see more bloodshed
