dual booting with bazzite is now literally offers 100% steam deck experience (sans trackpads) but gives you that steam deck experience but with all the extra features of the ally x

I own the Rog ally original with xg mobile 3080 so for me it is on applying the change as 4.1% difference on performance is nothing as portable and I am using the ally mainly indoors and in the garden so battery does not matter to me ! I believe that only new customers will be more interested on the new ally as there are different solutions to solve the battery problem and at the moment 16gb ram is plenty for the existing games ! This is my opinion as an existing user of Rog ally but if they give me 20% more power then probably I would change the device even without the xg mobile port ! When Xbox creates a UI for these handhelds. Secondly, valve needs to hurry and release the Ally version of steam os as I’m not a fan of their hardware and would prefer a steam os (or Xbox os) windows 11 dual boot

As an early adopter of the ally and steam deck, I just feel burned at having improved versions of both devices release so soon. I'll wait for the next iteration.

Love your content but this one sounds rushed: no Avatar benchmarks, no retail unit tested. There is a lot of benchmarks and reviews out there so no big deal, but maybe this clip wasn't necessary as a stand alone video.

Love the ally. Will wait for ally 2. Cumbersome to upgrade for few fps boost which can be done with improved ai upscaling.

I'm all ready to return to handheld windows if they slap a right trackpad on their device, positioned in a way you can use it as main input method like on steam deck (not like the legion go!)

Why is your frame time graph on pc different than on any console? Consoles have the same frame time.

Its a solid device I had the original ally also and all the small updates make it a nice upgrade in my opinion. Windows sucks on a handheld device though I dont care what anyone says. I dont mind windows on my rig but its pretty painful on a handheld. I really dont understand why windows isn't making a mobile version. Its really just switching from gamepad mode to desktop mode controls that annoys me. Other than that the ally x is a beast and it plays games very well for a handheld.

One thing about the Switch, Steam Deck and Consoles in general amazes me: *it's a piece of hardware that's "state of the art" in it's ecosystem for a longer time.* This ecosystem is optimized and the hardware supported better with every month.

So going the "PC update rallye route" is not what comes to my mind when thinking about a handheld. How often have gamers to buy new hardware? It should be about optimizing battery life, performance, optimization of current hardware ... supporting games, optimizing a UI ... and NOT solving problems with buying new hardware every 6 months.

The screen is good but man would it have benefited from one if those OLED Nebula displays they have on their ROG Zepherus laptops. Probably the only thing about it that loses out to the Steamdeck at this point.

Only problem with it (besides ASUS’s credibility ) is windows, while the MyAsus UI is pretty good, the windows UI is so terrible for this and the other handhelds. I’m surprised Microsoft hasn’t tried to use the Xbox UI to create one specifically for these handhelds to compete with Valve’s steamos. Ive seen a lot of people complain about windows UI that they’ve switched to Linux OS’s like Bazzite and Holoiso that do a pretty great job at replicating the steam deck’s steamos for these other handhelds.

How did they do that despite no increase with the chipset this is like with the oled steam deck where the performance was slightly better.
