It’s a little things like this that makes a mechanics job easier

I’ve been doing that for years with my snap-on sockets but don’t give snap-on any ideas because they will mark up their sockets, just for adding ink, another 60%.

It is an even better hack if you store your sockets so you can then see the freshly painted numbers.

It’s brake clean for those wondering, that’s the O Riley’s brand he’s using.

I have done this and like it, but it wears off.
My dad taught me one though.
Metric sockets flip your odds upside down and leave your evens normal

They should come from the factory like that

I do this on engines or transmissions that have stamped codes that have been painted over. Works well. Didn’t think about the impact socket stamps. Cool!

I used to do this when I worked in a shop, it works good for about a week and then the paint wears off. If your fine with taking the time to re-do it every once in a while go for it

I’ve done something similar for over 20 years now. But thank you all the same. I really enjoy your videos.

From Los Angeles.

Put them in upside down and mechanics have been doing this with sockets and wrenches for decades. Definitely makes things easier especially on the eyes!

Absolutely beautiful man.
Having been a house painter, and knowing something about coatings
and solvents, there are a lot of applications for this
I never considered using paint markers, either the crafting kind or the auto paint chip kind. Thanks for posting. 😎

I was a mechanic for 37 years I can tell the size just by eye sight and always put them back in numerical order

Yeah.I've been doing it for over a year now.Are you use red paint. Really is neat My friend told me That he sprays clear coat From the can. After he paints them And clean them up and then hexpress two coats of clear coat on them. So the paint doesn't gets Dirty again And you got to keep doing it. Because he uses his impacts almost daily. But he did say the clear coat holds up so far so good. After you paint the socket and clean them up the impacts Great Mechanic garage hack. Painting them cleaning them out and Spraying A few coats of clear coat To protect the color paint.

I’m a carpenter and I’ve done this for my framing squares

You'd think with as much money snap on charges they would just do this.

Refrigeration. Nut drivers are color coded.. take your impact sockets and grind the ends off. This give you more surface areas to bite the head of the bolt. Stops a lot of chewing off the shoulder, of the bolt.
