The Prime Minister refused to apologise for the UK’s role in historical slavery and colonialism, and rejected a call to commit to reparations when challenged in the House of Commons.

Rishi Sunak said he is committed to ensuring the UK is an “inclusive and tolerant” society, and that trying to “unpick our history is not the right way forward”.

I wouldn’t apologise either, the past is in the past, the people of the UK are aware of their History including the Government and take daily steps to make sure something like this does not happen again. They have taken steps to erase parts of the past by removing statues and memorials of those who were directly responsible for the slavery that went on. I am absolutely disgusted by what happened in the past and only wish those responsible had recognised that the enslaved are human beings too. I’m not a public speaker btw so please don’t attack me if I’ve said something wrong or stupid. I’m just middle aged bed ridden woman with nothing but my thoughts to keep me feeling human. Have a happy day and be thankful for what you do have.

No apology needed. People living today we're not involved in slavery.
We are not responsible for the actions of our ancestors.
Sick of this perpetual whining.

Does she know that Britain abolished slavery in 1833? That was quite a while ago, not a single person from that time is still alive.

My family sold slaves in Africa and we all need too move on and ensure that Africans educate, arm themselves and aren’t being robbed blind by their leaders and the international business community. That’s where the focus of blacks in the diapora and actual Africans should be. The UK should, however, look into the Home Office being run by Indians who discriminate and mistreat Africans and black people on arrival but not Indians and Pakistanis.

Every Country has a past get over it and move on no apologies are needed has she asked any of the leaders of the other parties to apologise there's more important things to sort out than this .

The way he answered the question could have been handled better and as a black person i find rude n discouraging considering scientific proof is emerging regarding connections between our dna n slavery plus the current finding from police n doctors shows that we are heavily discriminated upon so if he doesnt want to apologise for past enslavements what about our current abuse n that race equality has specifically told the police to be nicer to black people because unfortunately we are victimized ❤
