"So when it rains, the ground just happens to get wet. And you guys believe that?"

It's the confidence that gets me. She truly believe she has some higher intelligence.

I may be misquoting but I recently saw this and it definitely applies to her:
"Everything is a conspiracy theory if you don't know how anything works."

Wait, so there’s aurora borealis deniers now? How exciting

I'm not sure which is worse: The fact that she seems utterly clueless or that she seems extremely smug about being utterly clueless.

"SO you're telling me" I always know some BULLSHIT is coming after those words are said in that order

She even has her hair up to catch things that go over her head and still missed this one

Her hair has a purpose. Its an antenna that picks up the REAL news through special microwaves. Thats how they know the truth.

The way she calls a solar storm "obscure events" is so funny because it's not even a difficult topic to understand and it's pretty widely known. It's at least more well known than whatever she's believing in...

She's actually has the mind of a toddler. Amazing.

Think of the narcissism necessary to think that because you don't understand something then no one does.

The argument from incredulity is the most depressing aspect of social media discourse.

Conspiracy theorist have that mocking tone because the only real evidence they can present it called 'gaslighting'.

Personal incredulity does 👏 not 👏 count! 👏

You should clarify - we're seeing northern lights for 2 reasons:
1. Solar storm;
2. Weakening magentic field.

Earth's magnetic field is always changing, but in the past 10 yrs or so, it's been weakening and the magnetic poles are moving, faster than usual. This is natural, and has been happening ever since the Atlantic opened up between us and America.

[Sigh] But if you told them that, someone would start freaking out about how the axis of rotation is SUDDENLY GOING TO SWITCH AND WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!
Smh.

"What's the problem?"... Her ability to comprehend it all. That's the problem.

Just to pick nits:

It isn't "filled with airplane condensation." It isn't like the planes are releasing condensation. That isn't how it works.

The air is filled with water vapor. You can see it as clouds. But in order to see the clouds, the water vapor needs to condense back into liquid drops of water. That's because the atmosphere at that temperature and pressure can hold only so much water as vapor.

As the plane passes through, the hot exhaust from the burning of the jet fuel causes changes in the temperature and pressure in the wake. This changes the ability of the atmosphere to hold the water dissolved in it and depending on the specifics, the water may come out of solution. That's why sometimes you get condensation trails and sometimes you don't. It depends on the temperature and pressure and amount of water dissolved in the atmosphere. It's why sometimes the condensation trail evaporates back into the atmosphere quickly and sometimes it sticks around for a long time. Depending on the temperature, pressure, and humidity, the reaction may favor going back to dissolved or sticking around as condensation.

Not only that, the burning of the fuel releases particles that act as nucleation sites that the molecules of water can collect around. Thus, as the plane passes through, the water collects around the exhaust.

The auroras, on the other hand, are charged particles striking the lower levels of the thermosphere. The resulting collisions generate light.

Now, here's the thing: The elevation at which auroras happen is about 100 km up.

Planes, on the other hand, only fly at about 20 km.

So yeah, the atmosphere can exhibit both condensation trails and auroras. They happen in different layers of the atmosphere.

She *does* know that the atmosphere has layers, yes?

Of course she doesn't.

not to mention we observed and documented the Arura long before we had planes...

People think being skeptical is by itself the same thing as being smart.
Like “you all believe zebras and horses are different animals? Hm, ok… ☕️” You can do it with anything.

Her whole argument is an argument from personal incredulity logical fallacy
