This EQ tip will give you a crystal clear mix!

In the industry we call this The EQ Swapper

You may want to save this for later

Grab an EQ like the FabFilter's Pro-Q 3,

Now, let's create some space for a bass guitar and kick drum…

First, find the fundamental frequency of the kick drum, usually around 60-80 Hz, and make a narrow boost of 2-3 dB.

Next, make a corresponding cut in the bass guitar track at the same frequency, allowing the kick drum to cut through.

Now, find the bass guitar's fundamental frequency, usually around 100-200 Hz, and make a narrow boost of 2-3 dB.

Make a corresponding cut in the kick drum track.

This technique helps create separation and clarity between the two instruments.

But to take it to the max... Do the same settings but make them dynamic

Boom….that’s your kick & Bass issues over forever!

100 percent true I do this all of the time. Easier than side chain. You can use this for guitar also if there many guitars tracks

For anyone with neutron, you can do this automatically with the inverse function

Would that be really useful tho ifnu are sidechaining? Aren't you going to lose those frequencies when the kick not playing?

Where does this technique fit when using sidechain for bass and other drums?

That is a great tip that works great only if the bass player can only play the low string of their bass :D (and just one note if possible)

Awesome thanks grandmaster Ninjstreaky ⚔️

Ive learned this my own. Never thought to make them dynamic though

Bass isn't statically pitched like a kick drum so the fundamental frequency will constantly be changing, all you'll end up with is bass notes between A and C being a little more boosted than the rest of what the bass track is playing.

Insane trick. thanks for sharing your wisdom

Could you do this with voice "taking up space" over music? So that voice frequency replaces the ones in the other track... Hm

Awesome . Would this eliminate the need to side chain the kick to bass for that “dynamic ducking” effect ?

That would completely kill the glue in my case. It's literally called *mixing* not "filling the pieces of a puzzle."

Didn’t realize this was a thing with like a name. It’s kinda just what you do. Good tip either way.

it depends on what music it is. theres other things that can be done if making electronic music.

Amazing subbed can i do this using logic's normal EQ or do i need to purchase this EQ plugin?

In conclusion, this must also be applicable in higher frequencies? Furthermore i am now thinking not only about the fundamentals but also of maybe swapping the harmonic series between clashing instruments 🤔
