One of the most beautiful, needed, and largest engineering feats in Our short history as a free Democracy!!!....

Lying has become such accepted practice that a lot of people don't even seem to notice anymore. I do notice. There is nothing at all creepy here.

Me & my wife took the dam tour this year, the guide said we could ask any dam questions we wanted. lol We had a great time.

Early on the massive lower base was being severely undercut by enormous water seepage getting beneath it. Emergency repairs were carried out saving the dam from catastrophic failure. Henry Kaiser (Kaiser Permanente) and Warren Bechtel (Bechtel Corporation) were prominent partners in this costly project.
They saw to it that the CO sicknesses and deaths were attributed to heart attacks by a friendly coroner. In order to save money they used gas and diesel powered trucks and shovels deep in the tunnel works rather than the much safer and more costly electric powered equipment they should have used.

It was a US government project that was completed ahead of schedule, under budget, and has outlasted its projected lifespan. Three things that will never, ever, ever happen again, ever!

Hoover's name was restored to the Boulder Dam later. The civil engineers who built it named it Hoover, and Herbert Hoover's splendid work in administering the Marshall Plan after WWII (it kept Europe from starvation) motivated President Truman to rename the dam in his honor. Hoover wasn't a great president, but he was a splendid civil engineer and an excellent administrator. He unfortunately lacked the people skills required for the presidency.

As has been known since the Egyptians, all dams leak to a certain extent, and there's little that can be done about it except to keep an eye on them. The leak at Hoover dam seems to come through a fault somewhere in the concrete. It pours down into a hallway not far from the gallery of the generator hall. Since the generator hall is theoretically a separate building, this particular 'leak' (I got wet) may not be in the dam itself.

The Hoover Dam is worth seeing. The bus trip from Las Vegas seems to take forever, and try not to eat the lunch the bus company provides. But the structure itself is magnificent, and the respect and awe that the Federal staff people there have for the project is rather inspiring. But I hope the Colorado River cooperates sufficiently to fill Lake Mead back up again.

Common source stock images with synthesized narration.
The only thing actually creepy about this was the narration.

High scalers wore regular hats at first but when workers above them sent rocks flying down to them, they needed to figure out something. The workers applied bitumen to their hats to deflect the rocks, hence the invention of 'Hardhats".

Those are some real lean-looking workers in the video. This dam would take much longer to construct today. No one would work in those conditions with not enough water and shelter from the heat.

Certainly lot of workers died, and people have committed suicide there. I haven’t seen the video here on YouTube and unfortunately I don’t remember what site I had seen it on (might be on faces of death series) but there is footage of a man whom went over the top railing, tumbling down all the way to bottom, impact was graphic and death instantaneous. It was unknown if it was a suicide attempt or accidental fall though.
