I think software engineering is honestly the easiest way to create something cool nowadays. Most of the software is open source and you can simply learn as you build. Great video Clement!

I bought algoexpert like 2 months and I am really confident about my algorithms skill. Really thank you.

I think clement has probably used the term software engineer somewhere around a 100 times in a mere 15 mins.😂
It was a great topic to cover though

I’m doing CS as a major but I feel like really out of place and really dumb. I’ve always been more “English / psychology / social” oriented more than I was with the STEM subjects. I wasn’t bad at them but I was just better with stuff like English.

When I learn to code I just feel so incredibly dumb because it takes me so long to understand concepts and learn things.

So I’ve been really struggling with myself and whether or not I can actually do this.

This was a lot of help, thank you.

Hey Clement! I just want to say thank you for making these videos. I am currently pursuing a degree in CS, and I had doubts about what jobs I can actually pursue with a CS degree. This video helped me realize there are so many jobs in the tech industry and being in software engineering/CS opens many doors. Thank you!

13:30 "it is incredibly useful to know how to code". Those words sum up my feelings about software engineering. Once you learn how to code, you can pursue the career paths you talked about, you can make your current work better, or you can pretty much create your own career. The possibilities are endless. 😊

A video like this is very useful to beginners though. When we first learn how to code, we're overwhelmed by all the information. We feel lost. A bit of direction from someone like you who already has experience is very helpful.

I am 1.5 years into my SE career as a full-stack engineer and I have to say that I have the most fun in the Frontend and UX pieces of projects. :)

You can also transition into a teaching or training role, something I’ve considered as my arthritis starts to kick in 😝

I love how you've optimized your intro to be under 1 second. That's impressive!

Clément this is a really interesting take on career paths of software engineers.

I think most videos and articles online that talk about this does give you the impression that you'll be coding all the time in the long term, 'cuz they usually mention typical paths only (e.g. android, iOS, backend, frontend, fullstack, web, systems engineer, CTO, etc.).

So I really find this video useful. Thanks a lot for the insights!

Great video, Clement! This will clear a lot of misconceptions about the field of Software Engineering for a lot of people outside as well as give insights to the people within the industry (especially people who are just starting out).
I'd really like if you could make a separate video exploring the Software Engineer -> Venture Capitalist transition in more detail. 😊

It's crazy how you keep putting out really informative content. I get motivated so much just by checking out your latest video. Can you make a video on the topic you touched on here - how new grads are trying to find jobs amidst the current global situation? I'd like more information on that for when I'm applying soon, I already know I can count on algoexpert for the interview technical side!

You could go into research too. It would be great seeing a video from you on the topic of research in this field.

Please make a video on various advanced roles related to research like compiler engineer, kernel engineer etc and there demand, competition to get in etc. So that many people like me how are going for masters can choose wisely.
Thanks

I used yank seats out cars when I first started. I would strip bolts, cross thread them in. Lose parts, throw airbag light on dash. Scratch show cars, have seats that didn't work after touched them. Stress city. Then after while I figured out every trick in book. Idea is pace yourself allow time for roadblock, getting stuck. You never want show an employer how fast you can go. They will work you like rented mule
