Robert F. Smith, the billionaire Black businessman and philanthropist, invited co-hosts Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner to spend a day with him in the intimate and cozy confines of his historic Lincoln Hills, CO, home. Over the course of the conversation, Smith spends time explaining how software programmers are alchemists, the joy of making something out of nothing, the importance of giving back to your community–as he did and continues to do with his donation to Morehouse and The Giving pledge– and shares the most important things he’s leaving to his children. The care and thought Smith puts into every single word is evident from the first to final minute of this rousing conversation.

Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner are great friends. They’re also former NBA teammates whose versatility on the court endowed them with the nontraditional position that also happens to be the title of this podcast. But that’s not all. Extend those gifts off the court and you’ll find two truth-tellers who keep their finger on the pulse of sports, business, and culture. Each week join in as they unleash sharp analysis on everything from sports headlines & tech innovations to book reviews & internet memes. Throw in a rotating cast of some of the world’s most elite players, authors, musicians, and entrepreneurs, and Point Forward is a podcast taking the athlete conversation to the next level. Candid. Unconventional. Witty. Welcome to the future.

So grateful for all the education y’all give me. It expands my humanity and consciousness. Helps me teach my children how to love and help others who may not have the same privileges they do. I learn so much about finances from all the guests you interview, and share your episodes with my husband who is a business owner.

On another note, Iggy, you’re one of my guys. I know you don’t love that nickname, but I’ve been calling you that since 2015 and I like to pretend we’re friends. I cried multiple times when you had to leave our team. I followed you on the Heat while I cheered for our injured Warriors. Then I bawled like a baby rejoicing that you were back. It is what I had been praying for. Thanks for giving us another year. You have such a brilliant mind and incredible heart. Thank you for giving all that you give to our Warriors, to your community, and to people like me. So grateful God made you. Keep up the great work! You’re doing incredible things.

This is the correct model for overcoming systemic racism and disenfranchisement not relying on government for ALL aspects of our progress. Gov needs to ensure laws and entitlements are not punitive against us. Then we need more meaningful investments into our communities. Shared this interview with my teenage children and will buy “Standing at the Scratch Line”. Beautiful. Powerful.

Remarkable interview! 💥Felt like I was back in business school. Great to see Robert Smiths impact in business expansion and development for community. Maybe the players association could set up something for the players children to create some of the educational and investment opportunities smith spoke of.

Andre's son is smarter than they are giving him credit for. The knowledge he can get from his dad while they ride and eat is worth more than $100
