What Is “the Joy of the Lord” and Where Can I Find It?

The joy of the Lord is not our joy - it's our STRENGTH. We might not feel joy but we KNOW that HIS joy is our STRENGTH

Please pray for me. I really want to experience the joy of the Lord but to be honest, my life has been so miserable for the last 3.5 years. I've been battling some type of skin parasite that won't go away, no one knows what it is....also many other issues to go along with this. My life has been total chaos since July 2017. I want to experience this joy, but can't seem to ever get there. I really need some help with all of this!

This is HUGE understanding, perhaps indicating that Christianity HAD lost much of it's true practices /traditions very, very early on-? Most Christianity is intensely sad...not taking away from it's power, even that brings joy sometimes, because in it's sincerity and depth, and connection with Jesus, an abundance of emotion opens up in general, bringing many joys as well as the usual great sadness associated with the suffering of the crucified Christ.

Exactly cuz especially when your Homeless especially when the body of Christ REJECTS YOU. And you have no friends and family that loves you how do I be humble and have joy???

No wonder people take drugs to alleviate the sadness and feel a measure of joy, albeit temporarily. I am a Christian and I feel totally joyless; if I did not know that drugs is not the answer, I would go looking for some drugs to alleviate my sadness. I read the Word, study the Word, yet joy eludes me. I listen to all these sermons and none of them help me to find this joy. It is so dam hard to live in this world.

Happiness and Joy are two different animals! Happiness is dependent on circumstance and conditions yet, the Joy of the Lord is born out of contentment in Christ. Yet, this contentment is a learned thing available in the abiding relationship taught on by Christ Himself in John 15:1-8. And the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:11-13. Then Paul taught Timothy this: But godliness when accompanied by contentment is a means of great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6. The great gain is Joy! You see the joy of the Lord allowed Paul & Silas to be cast in the middle of a Philippian Jail, shackled to a dungeon floor under a hole that served as the toilet for all the inmates of the jail, quite possibly the worst of circumstance, however their Joy of the Lord allowed Paul & Silas to break out in worship and praise to the One who allowed them to be there in the first place!

Does that mean that we have to live by faith in God's love for us personally trough the holy spirit in order to be able to love him and others? :)
