I read that for my western world lit class last semester. Loved it. It was one of my favorites in that class.

I've read Don Quixote in both English and Spanish, and liked it in both languages. Favorite quote: "He so buried himself in his books that he spent the nights reading from twilight till day break and the days from dawn till dark, and so from little sleep and much reading, his brain dried up and he lost his wits." Ha! Ha!

I really like the line of "dividing the book into 30 pages a night".

I'm making my second attempt at reading this now. The first time I only made it to pg. 200. I was so annoyed with the characters that I couldn't stomach anymore of it. Your comment of it being a parody, gave me a new perspective that I can view this reading through. I hope that this view makes the book more palatable for me. Enjoyed the review!

I'm so excited to see a review of Don Quixote. I read it last year and really enjoyed it. I agree that part 1 was the better of the two but I like how in part 2 he was making fun of the fake Don Quixote book someone else wrote.

Aww, I had the same experience with part 2—it was heart breaking to see Don Quixote and Sancho be ridiculed in the second book.

part 2 was released after 10 years of part 1.
The readers were literally crying for more resulting which there were people taking advantage and releasing fake part 2. There Miguel determined himself to write the second part.
