Spike in Jeep thefts over past months in San Diego

Police are seeing a spike in car thefts in San Diego targeting Jeep Wranglers and Dodge Rams.

Been going on for over 20 years. Ask how many servicemen had their Wranglers and such stolen.

A lot of people forgot about this little device called the AutoLock. I believe it came out in the 90s. I used it on my Honda Civic in the 90s, which was really easy to steal back then. If you got a club for the steering wheel, all they have to do is get a small handsaw just saw through your steering wheel and they can pull that thing right off. This AutoLock device would lock your brake pedal down so even if they did start your car they can't drive away with it.

Dingdong says, "lock your doors, don't leave it open, " while these people all said their cars were locked and Dingdong says the keyfobs are easy to reprogram.

Dingdong says, to use "car alarms, " while one of the victims said they had an alarm and it was armed.

Dingdong says, "park where you know there's cameras, " while the same news piece shows a guy simply knocking the camera down and stealing the jeep anyway.

Basically, what Dingdong is saying is, "your Jeeps are gone forever, this is your fault, and we aren't going to do anything about it."

I think this Regional Auto Theft Taskforce needs to get defunded. They aren't doing a damn thing.

My friends Jeep was also stolen in Huntington Beach about 2 months ago. It was a custom green. Lifted Jeep. It was parked in front of her house.
