Saffron is really good for your health, specially for your skin. My mom has been suffering from rash since last year, we've tried many different ways of treatment, but none of these were helpful. Until few months ago, my brother in law send us a bottle of saffron, then my mom made some saffron water(Just put a few saffron into boiling water, like making a cup of tea) and smear them to her skin, few days later, all rashes has gone. It's amazing, like magic.

It's expensive per kilo, but people buy a few grams at a time. When cooking, I only use about a stamen or two.  It's relatively a cheap ingredient for cooking.

Saffron is a plant. The dried stigmas (thread-like parts of the flower) are used to make saffron spice. It can take 75, 000 saffron blossoms to produce a single pound of saffron spice. Saffron is largely cultivated and harvested by hand. Due to the amount of labor involved in harvesting, saffron is considered one of the world's most expensive spices. The stigmas are also used to make medicine.

Saffron is used for asthma, cough, whooping cough (pertussis), and to loosen phlegm (as an expectorant). It is also used for sleep problems (insomnia), cancer, “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), intestinal gas (flatulence), depression, Alzheimer’s disease, fright, shock, spitting up blood (hemoptysis), pain, heartburn, and dry skin.

Women use saffron for menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Men use it to prevent early orgasm (premature ejaculation) and infertility.

Saffron is also used for to increase interest in sex (as an aphrodisiac) and to induce sweating.

Some people apply saffron directly to the scalp for baldness (alopecia).

In foods, saffron is used as a spice, yellow food coloring, and as a flavoring agent.

In manufacturing, saffron extracts are used as fragrance in perfumes and as a dye for cloth.

Phrase from Webmd.com and the last line says :There isn't enough information to know how saffron might work. :)))

These prices are old, for average to slightly higher than average quality they would be lucky to sell a kg of saffron for $2, 000.I think most people don't understand how much a kg of saffron actually is or how little you actually use, 1g of saffron is enough to fill a match box - 1oz might fill 2 altoids tins so 1kg of saffron is actually a lot more than you would think

Man that's tough work, but one I appreciate their hard work because it changes the food cooked with it amazingly, and they make ALOT of money for their hard work, which some people who work equally as hard never do

it’s quite strong so you don’t need to use much in cooking and therefore it’s relatively cheap to use
