How to GROW SAFFRON

Experimented with planting saffron crocus in October. A month later the crocus bloomed and I was harvesting saffron, amazing! ⁣

I’ve yet to learn if the bulbs will withstand our hot summers. (I’ll experiment with pulling some out and leaving some in to find out.) ⁣

After high school I spent a few months living in Spain. I’m excited to recreate the paella I enjoyed eating there with this delicious spice.⁣

I've been trying to figure out if you have to dig up your bulbs and let them dry each year or if they can overwinter in ground. We are in 11b currently, eventually 8b.
