How to make golden milk (turmeric milk or haldi doodh)
Показать описание
My favorite home remedy, Haldi Doodh or golden milk!
Here is one home remedy that is rooted in culture and tradition.
➡️ Turmeric is a commonly used spice in Indian cooking.
➡️ This turmeric drink or “Golden Milk” is best known in Ayurvedic medicine.
Because Turmeric is a source of curcumin, it is thought to reduce inflammation and may even help with joint pain.
Not only that, but Golden Milk also has antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties.
I drink this at the first sign of a sore throat or feeling under the weather and give it to Ryaan when he has a runny nose or cough.
How I make it: 📝
✔️ Warm up a mug of milk of your choice (plant-based alternatives with similar fat content preferred). Ideally, boiling milk is preferred but I have found the benefit of microwaving and mixing to ensure an even temperature.
➡️ Add the following:
✔️ 3/4-1 tsp of turmeric (adults) or 2 pinches-1/4 teaspoon for kids (or to taste)
✔️ Add 1-2 pinches of black pepper
✔️ Add ½ -1 teaspoon of honey (if over one year of age)
✔️ 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (I add to taste)
As a bonus flavor punch:
✔️ Add 1-2 pinches of cayenne pepper
As a safety precaution:
➡️ Use in moderation (for a kid over one: once or twice a day while sick is reasonable).
➡️ Turmeric milk and other home remedies should NEVER take the place of receiving medical attention for a sick child.
➡️ I do not support turmeric pill supplements for children unless directed by a licensed medical professional.
