Thank you very much for such wonderful and easy to digest details. I am not specialist in stat (or any math subject) but if I may ask what is the point of squaring a value. I understand that any equation might come from a previous derivation steps but just trying to comprehend what is the point in many stat equations of squaring a value and then substracting or dividing by it.
