Put only clothes and shoes and toiletries (and maybe books) in checked luggage. Valuables must be in carry-on bags.

I’ve got a big pink tag with bright letters that say, “NOT YOURS”. Works every time!

Hi:
Here in Seattle the airport luggage handlers are notorious for stealing from bags. this was verified by one of our TV stations.

best thing is to screen very well in hiring baggage handler’s and more CCTV in the area and pocketless uniform for the handlers

If you stick a couple of Eastern Diamondbacks in your case it is an amazing theft deterrent.

Just a heads up that I have been hearing about people grabbing bags from overhead compartments. It just happened to me a month ago. I was sitting 3 rows from the front and fortunately the lady sitting next to me on the aisle had helped me put a duffel bag in the overhead. When we landed, a lady in the first row asked for help getting her carryon out of the overhead and then pointed at my bag and said for someone to hand that to her too. My seat mate said “that’s not your bag.” She ignored her and tried again and we both got up and said “that’s not your bag.” The woman then turned around and got right off the plane.

The TSA locks ensure that only the TSA and people who buy TSA master keys online can steal your luggage.

You can only do so much to try and prevent theft. My hard case suitcase had TSA built in lock, outer luggage strap and I did everything recommended but it was broken in to after check in. It was obviously someone working at the baggage handling dept. When I retrieved my luggage at destination, the strap was dangling, not secured to my luggage. Luckily, only cheap clothes were stolen. This was at the Nairobi airport.

Better screening on hiring and have security guards watching employees doing their jobs!

Actually, I am more worried about people who might add something illegal to my luggage than of thieves, to be honest😢😕

I've had more problems with TSA agents than with civilian thieves (twice). I use external straps of day-glow colors.

Take pics of the inside of the bag before locking and also after rapping/tags are completed. It's helps incase of such untoward happenings

I always use TSA approved locks. On my last two trips I have had locks removed and not replaced. Thanks TSA.

Additionally, using a suitcase with latches/locks vs. zippers can deter thief since bags with zippers can easily be opened with a cheap ballpoint pen.

I only put clothes and toiletries in my suitcase. I use a soft case that I can put in an overhead. I put a custom item attached to handle plus a ID tag to case. Don’t pack more then you will need. Anything else goes in my handbag which stays with me. If you wear a jacket or coat don’t put valuables in pockets.

Our luggage tsa locks were not put back by tsa agents and never saw those locks again.

Put all the items you are packing in those plastic bags where you can take the air out with a vacuum clener. Makes it harder for thieves to remove single items from your suitcase.

The weakest point in our luggage is the zipper. Just poke any where on the zipper with something hard and it can be opened. So, my luggage contains only clothing and no valuables. Most importantly is to have travel insurance.

I put a TSA approved lock on my suitcase and they cut it off. When I opened the suitcase it had been ransacked, clothes thrown everywhere. I was so disgusted.
