"Lost your key and can't start your car?"

"No, lost my fuel injection relay."

On a positive note aside from all the negative comments. I just want to say thank you Scotty. Your a great help. A man that gives wisdom to uninformed people like me. These are great solutions. The peanut gallery is always going to have something to say. It’s stupid how somebody can gives his time selflessly to others can be so riddled by hecklers. Keep up with the good work Scotty. Your a great guy and I’m actually able to focus more with all the hand movement. I don’t want to see such a star be lost due to all the rude people. Rev up your engines!

"Let's say I was a sleazy criminal" then in the insert that is a picture of the Goldman Sachs sign. Ha, ha.

I had the best anti-theft devices money can buy... A man with a tow truck stole my car.

The best anti theft device was the stupid GM VATS or Passkey system. So good even the owner can't get the car to start.

Scotty... not the hero the automotive industry asked for... for obvious reasons.

But the one WE most definitely needed!

What an awesome INEXPENSIVE and nearly foolproof tip!

👍

I just fill my gas tank with sand. Then I simply remove the sand when I want to drive.

My 94 Ford ranger was stolen 5 days ago. It was stolen from a repair shop parking lot. I got it back yesterday when a friend found it at a railroad station. When I asked the mechanic with all the cars here why would they take my old truck. He said and I agree it was the easiest to start. I'll be pulling the relay from now on . Great advice Scotty.

the best anti-theft device is a manual transmission, no one knows how to drive a manual transmission this days

I bought a FIAT. Best anti-theft deterrent of all. Heck, I can leave the key in it and the motor running; I know it will still be there when I return.

The best anti-theft device is to drive a piece of crap car. Just Saying

Love it. My wife's 1998 Mazda 626 had the chipped key. As soon as you start it, the engine would die when you put it in any gear with any key blank not chipped. Good stuff.

Stealing a car in front of the police station is more common then you would ever believe Scotty.
I always took out my fuel injector relay and my ignition relay, when ever I went on a trip.

Another variation on the kill xwitch is to measure the current to the ignition system, install a slightly-to-small fuse in line and bypass the fuse with a hidden switch. When you park the car, open the switch. If they steal the car, the fuse will blow after a few minutes, leaving them with a puzzle yo solve out in the middle of the street. Likely they will just abandon the car rather than get caught with it. Now you come along close the switch, drive home, and replace the fuse.

What I would do is pull out the fuel injection relay and replace that with a blown relay, and install a dummy kill switch to confuse a would be car thief.

I got shock sensors installed by the dealer last weekend. Alarm goes off if my car is lifted for examples getting my wheels stolen or getting towed. Also, if the glass is broken, it triggers the alarm. Had a kill switch on my previous car and it was awesome.

On newer cars, removing the fuel injection relay may cause all kinds of computer issues (assuming someone tries to start it). I would only recommend this method for cars 1995 or older. Not to mention that in high-theft areas, thieves don't bother with trying to start the car. They come with a legit-looking tow truck that lifts the front end and they drive it away. And about the police-station parking idea, I'll point out that in Los Angeles a few years ago 3 police cars were stolen... during daylight... from a regional police station's parking lot!

I use to take the fuel pump relay out of my daughters Neon, but she figured out to just move over the A/c relay...She is clever... bummer...
