Do not buy the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Mower | Not a review | 2823-22HD

This video is going to be controversial because it's based on one defective unit off the line. Even if that is the case, looking at milwaukee website, it seems to be loaded with reviews of the same issue.
Considering I paid full price for the overpriced mower, it's not only a big letdown, but also a hassle to have to go and return it.

Something they should have figured out considering they are the last to the party on the mower game.

Full review of mower coming soon.

I recently bought one and had the same issue with the safety switch and it turning off on me. After talking with the Milwaukee tech dept, this was an issue with mowers made in 2021. Newer ones should not have this problem. Got a replacement that was made in 2023 and all is good now. You can tell the year of manufacture but looking at the serial number and the middle digits are the year it was made.

I'm not a milwaukee fan boy. I own Milwaukee, Metabo, Makita and Dewalt. I bought this Milwaukee lawnmower and it works really well with none of the problems shown on this video. I think its possible that this one was a dud or there was a bad batch of components that affected certain units.

I had this same problem with mine last week. I discharged the battery enough to be recharged. After fully recharging the batteries a second time. The next day it ran the whole time I used it with no problems. I will be mowing again this weekend so I’ll find out if it does it again or not.

Did anyone notice the batteries weren’t snapped in? Either this was done on purpose to give a bad review or the terminals need cleaned to allow the batteries to snap into place completely. The vibration is causing them to loose connection and shut down.

I got mine about a month ago. I have used it for about 5 hours so far. I love it. I highly recommend buying it. It is rugged, and I abused it a bit for the longer grass parts of my yard. I will be disappointed if it breaks down, since it helps me a lot. I have a $10K+ riding lawn mower for the main part of my yard, and I use this for the rough parts of the yard that I can NOT do it with the riding lawn mower.

I'm not having anything to do with anyone defending Milwaukee in this case! Milwaukee makes great tools, but they completely dropped the ball on this product. My son bought my lawn care business a couple of years ago. He mows mostly larger lawns but, on a rare occasion, needs a push mower, so he decided to try this M18. Within a couple of months (approximately 5-6 hrs mowing a week), he was having the same problem described in this video. The owner of the store where he bought it tried to get Milwaukee to replace it. But after multiple promises from the Milwaukee rep, but no delivery, the store owner just gave my son a new one on his own (Hardinsburg General Store, Hardinsburg IN- great place!). We finished the season ok, but at the start of this season, the second mower is doing the same thing! I am not saying there are no M18s that work, but obviously, there are so many M18s with this problem Milwaukee should be standing behind it!!!!

I wonder if the issue is software related, where if the battery level runs low the software draws more current to maintain the proper RPMs

Thanks for the video. I just got this mower a month ago and I'm cutting the front yard very low, every two days. Not one (1) single problem what so ever! The Milwaukee M18 mower have actually surprised me with how long the batteries last. I've had battery mowers for the last 10 years and not one of them could perform well like the M18. I'm not sure why you are having such problems because I have not had one single issue with my M18.

I have used mine a whole season, and I got lots of grass. Never had a problem even mulched all my leaves in fall.

The fix is to tie two zip ties around the handles on the left and right, so that the metal bar cannot be depressed into the channel fully. This pushes the metal bar up underneath the start switch which fixes a loose contact.

SOLVED - BUT NOT FIXED (If you operate the mower while keeping the square button depressed it will not turn off) I bought this mower being fully aware of this issue but keeping my fingers crossed that I wouldnt be one of the unlucky ones to experience it. The problem is the big square start button - (likely defective). I used mine two times with out any issues, on the third use this exact same issue arose - time after time after time for approx 20 to 30 attempts. I didnt want to believe it - . Then I figured I would keep the start button depressed while in operation just to see what would happen. doing this I was able to complete the entire yard which is just about half acre without one additional cut off. Im pretty sure the issue is causing the start button to lose contact via vibration etc. becuase when you apply just a little pressure to it, the unit operates flawlessly. Now I understand you definitely shouldnt have to do this with a thousand dollar mower and I agree, I'm just simply pointing out what I believe to be the root issue of this problem. As for the fix, well that would be milwaukees job, Ill certainly be submitting a complaint about this. Good luck to whomever else may have this issue.

I really like my M18 Mower. Works great and I can use the same batteries as my power tools. It has some really nice features and I am able to mow lawns in significantly less time than with my previous petrol mower which is nice.

You simply got a defective unit. Based on similar reviews, I would guess there was a bad lot of chips or boards. It'll be interesting to see how prevalent this issue is. Though I don't always have the patience to do it, I try to avoid the first generation of anything that costs this much.

I love all my Milwaukee tools. I just bought one more yesterday and haven’t put it together yet. I will be today. But I have the M 18 weedeater, that does exactly what your lawn Moore is doing. I don’t know if it’s just not built strong enough or if mine is defective. But my weedeater works just like this lawnmower is working… when you figure out what’s wrong. Can you post a reply for us please
