How California's Largest Lake Disappeared

North America used to have a massive body of water called Lake Corcoran in where present day California lies. This lake mostly disappeared, but part of it actually remains present today.

I feel like this guy goes and asks Reddit for answers rather than actually read the actual historical documentation. So much of this is completely wrong.

The lake was actually around 758, 000 to 665, 000 years ago and it only lasted 100, 000 to 50, 000 years

For those who actually care.
Lake Corcoran existed from ca. 750.000 - 650.000 years ago and fully disappeared around 400.000 years ago.

For once, the government is not to blame.

The fact that you clearly spent a ton of time on the graphics yet no time doing actual research is absolutely fascinating to me.

Im not sure im buying this YouTuber explaination.
When you aupposedly have the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi and most of California was a "lake". With lake effect across and up the sierra nevada mountains there is no way that snow run off suddenly "stopped" because of drought. Then the lake would have receded to its LOWEST point. There is no way they build canals "up river" to feed the central valley above Tulare lake.
This whole story is told in a way that's just not true. Due to population expansion in the valley of LA, they were TAKING water from places higher above them. That is why their so called fresh water lake disappeared. The runoff from the mountains has not changed much in the last 200+years. The freshwater use has. This youtuber bought into the lies of those stealing the water above them.

@0:36 Temperatures did _NOT_ "start rapidly rising 6000 years ago". The average temperature 6000 years ago was a little bit higher than what it is now, and there have been _much_ warmer times in between then and now, such as the Minoan, Roman, and Medieval warm periods, ca. 3300, 2100, and 1000 years ago. The Earth's average temperature did rise rapidly e.g. ca. 11500 years ago, and also after all the ice ages. All this is easily verified by examining the ice core samples drilled from various parts of the planet.

Watching this video, I now no longer question why California has a fire season.

California would've never been the giant agricultural state if they hadn't drained/redirected it elsewhere.

I’m sorry I didn’t know the U.S. as a country existed 660, 000 years ago.
It was also only 16000-18000 square miles, and mostly only existed in the south end of the Central Valley.
