Biggest red flag: "Hey man, maybe you should get into MTG. It'll be alot cheaper than 40k. Less time consuming too."

I think Mardu Banner is a pretty big red flag if you ask me.

Lands are a huge red flag, that means they’re gonna play cards, that’s why I always run land destruction

"When you're wearing Pyromancer's Goggles, all the red flags just look like... flags." (With apologies to Bojack Horseman)

Honestly, Storm kiln artist is a recent one, but so potent, it's just an uncommon but damn it can carry any spellslinger deck to victory

As someone who plays both, I feel like Gravecrawler deserves a callout over Bloodghast. Easier to go infinite and much more degerate.

For a second I thought the script was going to be, "we have our blue card: Island." Which would have been bold and correct.

I'm really liking these help videos. They're good for people of all playstyles and experiences.

You probably don't take many suggestions, but I feel like escalation and tempering/sandbagging to be good content for a video. Sometimes responses can come on too strong and too early, and when that person becomes targeted they wonder what went wrong, when all the other player's alarms are going off because of how harsh the play was. This along with vomiting a cheap hand and getting ahead too quickly really puts up red flags.

Happy to see more! Thanks for the lesson!

I can also recommend Marionett Master as a serious redflag. Dealing some damage when an artifact goes does not sound too bad, but it doenst take an infinit loop to make it dangerous. Just always remember that you can easily get a lot of treasures and each treasure sacrificed means damage!

Hey, man, thanks for the helpful tips, I was an exclusive Arena player, but your videos made me excited for EDH and already built my first deck! Its custom with some cheap powerful cards recommended by you, its already on its way and I am crazy to try it out in my local store when it arrives, cheers, Professor!

Honestly, the biggest red flag to me is when someone plays a card with a weird ability that doesn't obviously synergize with what the deck seems to be doing. Usually its part of an infinite if that's the case. Got bodied by a Lumbering Battlement once because I let it stick despite being suspicious of it and didn't know what it could really do until it was too late

Plant a red flag firmly in both Phyrexian Altar and Ashnod's Altar as well!

Great video! I think most red flags would stick out like a sore thumb if you're familiar with certain strategies. Granted that newer players might not have the experience to recognize these, but if you ever find the opening to blow up something like a Thornbite Staff or a Nim Deathmantle, you should probably do it. A Seedborn Muse should never be allowed to make it to another untap step.

White: smothering tithe or esper sentinel
Blue: rhystic study or intruder alarm

Red: sneak attack
Green: aluren, earthcraft, concordance crossroads
Colorless: mycosynth lattice, phyrexian altar

Repercussion.
Makes blocking pointless, and lets spells like Lightning Bolt get some extra damage in. Pair it with any damage doubling card and a Bolt hits a creature for 6 and the controller takes 12.

I thought that everyone at my table would have known that a Sword of Feast and Famine was a red flag, but I didn't draw removal for it and because of it, the player with essentially double mana politicked a stompy RG player into taking me out. Then he won.

Everyone of these videos you do makes me so excited to keep playing Magic. I only started with the D&D set, bur seeing how many cool interactions (albeit really strong in this videos particular case) makes me so excited to experience more Magic and get better!
Thank you professor!

I remember getting Crucible of Worlds in my first ever pack. My friends said it was garbage. Then I saw it used with fetch lands, and realised how good it was.

great video, thanks professor!

i wonder if future episodes of Dies to Removal could get into this kind of conversation more. i've binged the entire podcast over the past 3 months (and many of your other videos) and i've begun to wish you and @pleasantkenobi chatted more about specific things you're enjoying in magic -- mechanics, LGS memories, magic history, lore stuff. i like the critical perspectives but i would like to hear more of what you two love -- in a conversational format.

love the channel and the pod!
