This Innistrad Remastered Reprint Is Weird... Here's Why!

Mass Hysteria is being reprinted in Innistrad Remastered, and that breaks the conventions and norms of previous remastered sets like Dominaria Remastered and Ravnica Remastered. I think the idea is that mass hysteria can happen on any plane

I think its great for a remaster set to reimagine powerful reprints onto another plane, because i think people would rather have good pulls than have mediocre to bulk reprints

I like that they are doing this. Mass Hysteria is flavorfully an amazing card for Innistrad and makes perfect sense. It's not like they put Phyrexian Obliterator or Kenrith in the slot, they picked something that makes sense

Given that it _should_ have appeared in one of the Innistrad sets as they always have issues with RG decks due to werewolves not being fast enough I have little issue with this specific card's inclusion.

So if a pack of werewolves attack a town on Innistrad, that wouldn't cause Mass Hysteria? Or replace Werewolves with Vampire attacks... Same deal.

Also, I think the Idea of a "remaster" set is to include cards that couldn't fit into previous sets revolving around that Plane as well as fan favorites and highly played/expensive cards.

As someone who tries as hard as possible for my decks to synergise flavour-wise I reeeally want more of this

They made it fit the theme with cool art and flavor text so I'm in.

Actually happened in some of the online remastereds. There was anger of the gods reprinted in Amonkhet remastered, and that card was never in that block.

Fun fact: This is not the first version of this card, as Concordant Crossroads was a card with this effect printed in green instead of red.

I think this is a good idea. Keep about 90-95% reprints to the plane in question, and use the remaining cards to smooth out the limited environment/get needed and flavorful reprints out

I think its perfectly fine to reprint "generic" cards that aren't attached to a specific plane flavor-wise in remasters.

It’s not just any card, it at least thematically makes sense on innistrad where a bunch of people turn into werewolves and eldrazi horrors… mass hysteria would be expected from the citizens of a plane full of classic horror movie monsters

Honestly though: werewolves having haste is a massive flavor win, and will hopefully make werewolves a "good" standard archetype for a while. (Huntsmaster of the Fells alone seeing play in R/G decks does not count to me)

Though I love Magic more for its story than its playability, I don't think limiting the play experience for the sake of story is the right way to go. If it means new art and flavor text to fit the plane, it just gives the original print more value while also giving players extra access to a functioning card they may have wanted/needed.

Besides, its just a red-shifted Concordant Crossroads without the World Supertype, it wasnt exactly original card design to start with.
