Linux Sucks Because Of Nerds' 'Just Do ALL THIS And Everything's Fine' Attitude - Jody Bruchon Tech

Free software sucks because it's basically like a meth addict hooker instead of a high-class escort. You paid a bargain price and the basic goal is kind of achieved, but the entire process is a disappointing compromise.

mpc-hc is not installed by default. Do an apples to apples comparison with the default Windows media player maybe.

Unrelated to Linux, but once I tried reading manga on my phone during a blackout, which I did prepare in advance for situations like these, and the reader app, for some ungodly reason, needed an update right that moment or else it wouldn't let me use it at all.

Gotta love modern stuff.

The last thing I want to do when I am done working for the day and ready to enjoy some relaxing entertainment is more work to make the entertainment function.

People do manual labor including myself...

after a long day and the person who deal with lots of drama and struggle because of manual labor..

the last thing the person would wanna do is to deal with DramaNux...

Essentially the same rotten attitude with custom Android ROM creators deliberately not using TWRP as the recovery system, whilst wasting valuable yoctoseconds reskinning the broken non-functional default one that ships with non-modded Android.

Dave from EEVblog says "Engineers have no tact", and I think he's absolutely right. Linux is for engineer types who don't understand "usable interfaces". Using Linux makes them feel smart, even though they're taking 10x the time to do the same task. Your title couldn't be more accurate.

Id love to switch to linux. Ive dual booted my machine. And i love the the boot time and hate windows / apple.
I still end up having to pull up my windows to do stuff with most everything. Im not an advanced user just a generally tech savy guy with no real advanced kniwledge in anything.
Id use linux every day if it worked out of the box and i didnt need to know code. Gaming has made big leaps thanks to steam but its still not enough. A ready set out of the box open code suite needs to be adopted.

I have as daily driver a LG gram. Love that laptop! It has a dedicated key with a tiny led to engage "easy on the eyes mode" (lower brightness, lower blue light, warmer color). When I 1st got it it wasn't supported out of the box, but the kernel modules where there. I spent couple of days finding out hot to make it work like it works on Win out-of-the-box. I enjoy doing these things.... Next kernel update I lost it all... I fixed it since now I know how to do it.... Next kernel update I said F it!!

I still will use Mint as a daily driver once W10 support is dropped..

Linux is designed by and for people who love to tinker with their software and even the OS. It's like a car which is only designed for people who love being underneath one with a spanner and for whom simply driving anywhere is a secondary consideration. Neither are any good for the majority of people who just want to use the OS or car to achieve a goal, not as an end in itself. Most potential users just want to get stuff done as transparently as possible.
I've generally found that free software designed to work on Windows which has been around a while usually does the job painlessly and often as well or better than paid-for alternatives. It has to or the majority of Window users won't use it.

Well said. That exactly my experience as well.
I spent years forcing myself to use various Linux distros, but eventually I returned back to Windows.
I just need to get work done and while I could do it in Linux as well, it is 1000-times easier and faster to do it in the damn Windows. It's sad but true. So true.

I have installed Linux Mint with Cinnamon on a spare laptop. I have come to the conclusion that Linux is really a project for people who like writing operating systems! Any considerations for typical end-users are not top priority.

My search engine tells me that there are over 600 different Linux distributions so we can see where all the effort goes. I have also seen much larger estimates.

I can't stand linux, but even I can see that the built-in Windows player is garbage, however on both Mint and Windows starting with Windows 10 you have a store. Even on most Android the situation looks exactly the same. Yes, the player is pre-installed, but what good is it if it can't fully perform its task? That's why I always download VLC wherever I go, and on Windows I also install PotPlayer for the most serious cases

I personally like where linux is right now
Like even if the number of users are less,
Kind of like how in the old days not everyone had access to the internet,
But now almost everyone can use the internet and it's not all good.

Side topic- Any plans for a near-future video regarding linux for normal users? I've heard that it's improved a lot in terms of gaming over the past few years, and that there are builds? releases? names? that are more user-friendly than the hyper-nerd nonsense it used to be.

Not talking about specific things that only people already in-the-know would know, just a general feel/overview.

I'm thinking about outright replacing my PC, except maybe some SSDs, and I do not want windows 11. Or anything microsoft made past ~2010. May even go full AMD if it's true that it's more compatible with linux.

Would it be fair to say this is a Linux Mint problem?

Linux have no functionality for anything. No serious work there, no programming, no hardware tinkering. Nothing, "Linux dont want anything" ? Sure.. He got what he deserved. let it rot. Meanwile i would rather use AmigaOS.

It's an "I DUN KEER" attitude. "It is what it is, don't like it - don't use it. kthxbai" God, Bhudda, and Lenin forbid normies start using loonix.
