An outstanding scene from Batman Forever featuring Bruce warning Dick of the toll that vengeance can have.

Scenes like this and Val's acting are why I will never understand why people think "Forever" is similar in quality to "Batman and Robin."

This speech perfectly addresses Batman Killing in the first 2 films.

The whole “revenge has become your whole life” monologue, brilliant.

Wonder Woman: You trained Robin so he would become like you?

Bats: So that he wouldn't.

This was the scene that defined Batman's mind in the first two movies.

I never realized how much this scene nails the early dynamic of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson.

I have no shame in admitting that I think Kilmer had the best Batman voice of anyone who has played the character so far.

Some men are looking for hope. Others look for pain.

1:14 Goosebumps. Val Kilmer’s delivery instantly connects Burton and Schumacher’s timelines.

Keaton was unquestionably the most charismatic Batman, but Kilmer was the most accurate.

If the whole movie was as smart as this scene it could've been one of the best batman movies

He deserved so much more credit as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Wow...

Easily one of the top scenes in all the live action batman movies. I've seen this movie like 50 times most as a kid and never gave this scene a second thought. But seeing this as a 26 year old this scene really resonated with me. Especially the "Yes they were" part, fucking goosebumps man.

Val Kilmer was truly believable as Bruce. Looks, voice, and wisdom that I think of when I think of Bruce Wayne. He had the most potential to set the bar for playing as Bruce if he was given more to work with and the writing for Bruce was deeper and more explored (and if the movie was actually good). This scene shows a flash of what could of been.

Other than the fact that this movie has the same Alfred and Gordon from the first two Burton movies, this is one scene that links this movie to the first two Burton films.

This is my favorite Val Kilmer scene/speech of all time. Mock all you want, but this how I learned the (eventual) futility of revenge

Batman Forever was not perfect and had a lot of flaws, but Robin and his origin story was executed really well. This scene alone goes to show why both Batman and Robin are connected, both had their parents killed in front of them.

Val Kilmer should've stayed Batman.
