It’s a card that has been problematic for years. My guess is Konami pre hit it on masterduel to eliminate future problems. I could see it being banned in the tcg/ocg also… kinda shocked it has never been banned tbh

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets banned in OCG and TCG. That new Fiend Link-4 allows you to loop cards like this.

Once the npcs just constantly abuse stuff, they usually ban it in masterduel. We just got heros to full potential so we'll wait for malicious to be semi or banned again now

Jowgen the Spiritualist is not an auto-win card. I have never seen a Jowgen-based deck winning championships. Have you?

He does not have such a high win rate that justifies his ban (from 3 copies).

• Monster Effects can destroy Jowgen.
• Traps can destroy Jowgen.
• Spells can destroy Jowgen.
• Actually even a weak monster like Kuriboh simply attacking can kill Jowgen as Jowgen has only 200 ATK. He is very veeery fragile.

→ That’s why we’ve rarely seen a Jowgen deck win championships. He is balanced.

Even decks like White Forest, which rely heavily on Special Summons, do not work efficiently with Jowgen because this deck depends on Special Summons to do anything and Jowgen will be its own trap, leaving the deck weaker.

Please understand, my main deck, which I have been using since 2011, includes Jowgen the Spiritualist. I created this deck by carefully selecting each card from the 6500+ Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and purchasing every one individually. Now I can’t use it, and I’m seriously considering quitting Yu-Gi-Oh! with my friends.

The current meta revolves around heavy Special Summoning, but even Stun Decks that include Jowgen are not considered instant auto-wins against these decks. Otherwise, we would see Stun Decks winning championships frequently. On the contrary, Stun Decks are one-trick ponies ("all or nothing"). This is very different from current Meta Decks, which have many possible combos for a variety of different scenarios, allowing them to consistently defeat their opponents. That’s why these Meta Decks are the ones with high win rates—not Jowgen decks!

Now back to Jowgen the Spiritualist... Preventing opponents from Special Summoning while a monster that has 200 ATK card on the field is not an Auto-Win. It simply prevents the opponent from winning in one turn by executing their usual "infinite" combos.

Jowgen the Spiritualist is a one-trick pony and easily defeated. Please unban Jowgen — I beg you.

The spellbook strat is possible everywhere else. I like to believe its a TCG vs OCG difference. The OCG has maxx c and more ways to be creative, since they get cards earlier. While the TCG has to wait and cheese out cards like Jowgen.

Masterduel has a problem called not wanting to ban archetype urs that are the problem this is the second (or 3rd idr) card santifire has gotten banned but they won't hit the white dragon cause ur+antimation

branded voiceless voice players were just abusing this card in MD tournaments lmao (i was one of them). The basic idea is that any other extender/extra bodies after Skull Guardian & Lo in already on the field just gets you into VERTE which sents Jowgen + Albaz to make Sanctifire lmao

One of format in Master Duel makes it a bit to toxic, in a best of 3 you can side counters, tho a bit useless ban cuz their a whole lot of "no special summons" monsters

I think it was because of stun (allowing it to go second and nuke the opponents board by discarding a random card, also not once per turn) and sanctifire in branded. I played stun out of curiosity with jowgen and won 9 out of 10 matches. Still dont think it should have been banned

Albion the santifire dragon 🎉 it was played in branded to make sure your opponent couldn’t play. It’s an easier but not as good puppet lock
