All these foods were dishes cooked by the people within the dominion of the Ottoman Empire. However, they originate not only from Byzantium but also from the Turks, Arabs, and so on. With the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, there is no absolute claimant to them. It would be historically inaccurate to say so. Now, there are simply national variations in common dishes, such as Turkish baklava/Greek baklava, kokoretsi, loukoumia, sarma, etc.

I came across an interesting article recently, so i would like to clarify that one of the most famous desserts in the world, "Baklava", is a turkish name BUT definitely NOT a traditional turkish delicacy.
This delectable dessert is actually a traditional delicacy of the equally famous "Minoan Civilization" (3.000 B.C. - 1450 B.C.) in ancient Crete. In other words, it's a genuine Greek delicacy!
Athenaeus, in his monumental work states that information about this dessert are known due to a recipe of the ancient Greek sage "Chrysippus" who used to call the dessert "Gastrin" or "Koptoplakous". The dessert's recipe was later brought from ancient Greece to Rome by Romans and included in their diet. Then it passed to Byzantium. In Byzantium, when the Turks conquered Constantinople in 1453, they got to know the dessert and renamed it to "Baklava"!

0:10 girl, it's "sarma" from "sarmak" (engl. wrap). Dolma is with sweet pepper. It's from "dolmak" (engl. fill). It shouldn't be too hard for a Turk to memorize these names.
