For me, it started with Gato. Next was Aces of the Deep. Then came Silent Hunter III and nothing has surpassed that. Certainly with the loving modding community it is the most realistic sim out there.

So what you should've mentioned is that Cold Waters is the successor of Red Storm Rising. Basically the same game with updated graphics and UI. The developers loved Red Storm Rising, as did I, and decided to give it an overhaul. If you notice the map screen, same game play, moving the sub with mouse until you reach a contact, then you're greeted with options of what to do. Same as Red Storm Rising. Cold Waters is amazing with the Dot Mod mod...

I used to have silent hunter 5 which is one of my all time favourite games but sadly ubisoft killed it by making it server reliant then shutting down the servers shortly after

Red Storm Rising on the Amiga. Once you got behind the convoy they were toast. But, hell you had 4 screens on the computer monitor at a time. Great game!!

I was very fond of the original Silent Hunter. It was cool seeing B-25's attacking land targets from far out at sea. Now, I'm playing U boat. I like it very much except that the Allies seem to have a plethora of escort's very early in the war, which in reality they did not.

Gato was my first followed by Silent Hunter III. I'm trying to enjoy Uboat, but they are still working on it.

I think it's kinda a shame that most of military submarine games take place in WW2 and that there are so few games with modern u-boats

688 Attack Sub! I loved that game. Could even play it with a buddy over modem, even back then - using MS-DOS!

I remember silent service. Loved that game. I haven't played a sub video game since. I did pick up U-Boat leader board game by DVG 2 years ago. It was ok, nothing great though

The SIlent Hunter series of games are awesome but have a few bugs if not modded. Wolfpack is fun with friends and has the best immersion. Uboat is all round probably the best of all of them. It's so much fun and still gets regular updates.

Still playing SHIII+GW. Cold Waters is much improved by using the dotmod mod.

I've only really played Silent Hunter 4 but really enjoyed. I had it on disc years ago and had many hours with it. I loved the setting and the simulation style of the game. I've got it on Steam but sadly it just plays very buggy and keeps crashing.

Very poorly produced. Game titles should appear at the bottom or top of the screen throughout as you discuss the game.
