US farmers see soaring input costs and plunging crop values as China, Russia smash inflation lower

Показать описание
US and EU shoppers face soaring food inflation, paradoxically at the same time food prices are collapsing globally. This also has a hugely adverse impact on our farm sector, who are being hit with rising input costs and export markets that have all but disappeared.
Farmers across the developing world are reaping giant gains in crop yields and productivity from low-cost, high quality Chinese equipment that isn't available for sale in Western markets.
And large food exporting countries which are under sanction, such as Russia and Iran, are largely off-limits to trade in Western markets, but do so freely with the rest of the world, cutting prices further. Strangely, even Ukraine is producing record harvests, to the point that the European Union is raising tariffs to protect farmers in Western Europe.
