I never heard as many as 8 per night.. I heard an average of 8 over the course of a lifetime.

Actually, sometimes they do. That is what I'm trying to find out- can they actually tell that this is a mouth and not just a warm, damp place to hide? If so, how do they know? How does a spider know what the inside of a human mouth looks like and that it is dangerous?
If a spider does accidentally find its way into your mouth, it's the warmth that attracts them.

Actually I had this happen to me a while back. A spider tried to crawl on my face. Luckily my mouth was closed and i was breathing with my nose. And i felt tingling and realized it was a spider.

Spiders aren't bugs... They are arachnids.
