Shelby your face looks more aligned than before when your bite was off. You were just used to it. Trust me as someone who didn’t know you before the before and after pictures definitely confirm what I’m saying. And since it’s fixed your bite and pain it’s win win win. Congratulations On going through that and documenting it for everyone.

You gotta love how honest and brave Shelby is. She is not afraid of showing the bad stuff and it affects her. Huge props

Shelby, it broke my heart to hear that people have said you “ruined your face” to you online. You were beautiful before and you are beautiful now. I know my opinion doesn’t matter a whole heck of a lot but you deserve to hear both supportive and true commentary about yourself that isn’t hurtful. I’m glad you did what was best for you. It takes a LONG time to heal from a surgery like that. Your face won’t be 100% healed for a long while yet. My cousin did the surgery in 2015. It took a long time and she had to have a revision but she is so much happier. That is exactly where you deserve to be, happy and healthy. Pay no mind to the cruel comments of some. People who want to tear others down are very damaged and unhappy people. Their hateful comments speak to who THEY are, not you. 💕

So glad you were able to get this to have a better quality of life. I'm going to be honest, I can't even tell that you had surgery, and I tend to notice a lot of details. You look great! 🙌

The lower half of your face narrowed more over time and you look so beautiful! What a brave surgery to go through but now you are reaping the benefits while helping others! ❤️

Two weeks ago I had an accident and fractured my jaw, I'm currently wired up and cannot wait to eat food again!! Your videos have been a great source of comfort to me at this time, and I appreciate you taking the time to go through your recovery and healing journey. Thank you so much!!

The human body really is a marvelous thing when you think about its healing powers. The pain threshold that you referenced with the nerves is also a brain self-defense mechanism, meaning your brain is acknowledging the pain messages that is being sent to them from a specific location so much so that eventually it starts to "ignore it" as its way of saying "ok, I got it, no need to keep sending the same message over and over". Of course this "pain threshold" is subjective and different for everybody. Kudos to your courage and wish you the best in your recovery process.

I feel like at the 2 month mark you started to look more back to normal. And your face may have changed a bit but I think you look FANTASTIC. 🙏🏼

I think you look great and, to be honest, I never thought you looked as bad as you thought you looked. We are our own worst enemies and we are all very critical of ourselves and the way we look. Thanks for your honestly as I think this will help others on the journey.

Thank you. This is helpful. My adult son has TMJ syndrome. He also played hockey in school and got checked a lot, which didn’t help.

He said he wakes up sometimes and his jaw won’t open right away. He hears a clicking and looks like he has a slight cross bite. I didn’t realize how involved it is. If jaw surgery can address his problem, at least it’s something to to think about.

You look great. You seem to be able to do anything. Thanks for sharing your story.

Now that I am writing this text, it has been exactly three weeks since my jaw surgery and every day I am getting more nervous because I am waiting for the swelling on my face to go down and I don't notice any change. This video really gives me hope. You don't know how much I needed this hope. I'm really glad I found you

I had jaw surgery, upper and lower, 16 years ago when I was 18 and it was 10000% worth it! I used to get severe migraines that would last days, I even missed 90 days of school in one grade, and since my surgery, I could count on both hands the number of times I’ve had a migraine in 16 years. If someone is having pain or it’s impacting their life, it is totally worth it.

I’m at 7 months and can totally relate to your journey. In the first few months I was really worried and depressed too because I didn’t like how I looked and was expecting a quick recovery like how others posted. I had the same doc as you and the fact that I also didn’t have scary swelling or any real pain from it just shows what a great job he did in terms of the surgery execution. I still have residual swelling but it’s getting better each month. Thanks for your updates!
