They're classics for a reason, Cecilia. All the books you're reading are derived from them!

When I read Ready Player One a few years ago I wasn't a big fan, but I did say it would make a great movie. I listened to the audiobook a few months ago and it was a gamechanger - I changed my rating to 4 stars. And I'm stoked I'm FINALLY getting that movie. I'm surprised you're not interested because it looks fun! I loathed The Knife of Never Letting Go but I will definitely see the movie when it's out 🤷‍♀️

I loved getting books assigned in school! In the earlier years I would read them in just a couple of days and be like the first to be done with the book. I refrained from that method later on because it would make book discussions quite hard if you already knew everything that was happening 😅

Fun tag! Required reading was one of my favorite things about school (went on to get a lit degree, so...) but I never understood why nearly everything they assigned was so depressing. What were they trying to teach us? Life is hard, get used to it?

I was pretty middle of the road with most of the required reading in school. I loved The Great Gatsby but I hated The Road. Death of a Salesman was horrible but I loved Fahrenheit 451.

I acquired several books when my Step Father's first Step Mother past away, including a bound copy of her dissertation. Many of the others were books that the nurses had read to her in hospice, and they were left with her belongings. Others were vintage copies of things like Leaves of Grass.

I loved reading the set books in school, I was that kid who went home and read a few chapters ahead because I was so ingrossed in the story.

I loved requires reading in high school! We had to read Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison and I was one of the few who read it all the way through and really enjoyed it! Now she’s one of my favorite authors!

Required reading was really a mixed bag for me. I remember loving Silas Marner, but feeling generally meh about some of the others.
Also thanks for the heads up about the goodreads app, I have been trying a couple of methods for cataloging the books I own, but this has been the most useful. To be able to just scan the front cover or bar code of a book when I'm out and to instantly see whether I have bought it already has been a lifesaver. Although I do have the problem of constantly buying more books from charity shops even when I have like over 300 books to read. I mean I'm a fast reader but I just can't keep up when they're 50p, and I can't justify not buying them.

That edition of Frankenstein might be the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

I don't hate ready player one, though I will need to reread it. But the movie CGI bugs me to no end so I don't think it will be a good movie. Also I read the last page of the book but trying to stop, it is a habit of my anxiety to help stop panicking over not knowing what will happen so I am practicing not reading to help with that not knowing feeling.

I also read every part of a book, including the publication info page, I'm going to library school so I find all that stuff very interesting, but I'm a super nerd. I also liked a lot of the required reading in high school, the only one I didn't like was The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway.

I've loved most of the books I've read so far in high shool, and I think that is mostly because I have had really great English teachers who really delve deep into books. My favorite has got to be The Great Gatsby, I even found writing the analytical paper on that so much fun. I'm curious to know which high school book still holds up for you.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who thinks Ready Player One was a terrible book! I think Spielberg is a pretty good cinamatic story teller so crossing my fingers he can take a cool concept and develop it better.
