I'll have to check out Arcadia as I also have a thing for time travel books. Thanks for the recommendation! And I loved the anecdote about how your book nerd brain took over in that bookstore! ^^

So I definitely prefer novels to story collections but if you're looking to make that plunge again soon, I recommend Lorrie Moore's "Birds of America" and Grace Paley's "Enormous Changes at the Last Minute". (You mentioned Chapters so I assume you're in Canada?! ❤️🇨🇦)Much as I love Alice Munro stories, and would recommend her as a study of the craft, Moore's and Paley's are the two collections I sped through that nail the short form. That and "Say You're One of Them", by Uwem Akpan which has longer stories that are absolutely haunting. Thanks for the videos!
