THE FREE BIKE CHALLENGE //1// IN THE WOODS

This bike had a sign on it which said "free to a good home" so I took it with me and decided it was time for THE FREE BIKE CHALLENGE!

The bike is super old but the only problem were the flat tyres, after pumping them up the beast was ready to hit the mtb trails. The brakes are old school cantilever's but were kind of sharp, which was suprising!

I ended up trying jumps, berms , hills and this thing survived the session, for the next video I want to do the bike up and make it stronger with better parts then see what it is capable of!! Is that a good idea?

The trails are called danbury common and they are in essex fairly close to my hometown so its awesome to just blast down there and get involved in some action!

Forks are fine. Go fix the seat, wider bars and different stem. The last part isn't really worth it but it'd be fun to see!

Hey Sam Pilgrim! Mega thanks for that! That bike is the exact technology level we rode back in the 80's in whistler! We rode a lot of technical downhill stuf like you did! I was a bike mechanic back then and assembled many specialized hardrocks! The forks are probably stronger than you think but I would still wear a full face helmet when doing tricks that are stressful on them! The wheels may have been hand built so will also be quite strong! I say lower that seat and go for it! Start a "Free hardrock series"! (No 80's spandex please)! Ride ride ride!

I borrowed that same model from my sister in like 99 for a trials comp because I snapped my trials frame the night before! I swapped the bars for risers, dropped the seat, and put on better pedals..I actually won the bunny hop and side hop contests, and rode the entire course but taco'd the wheels before I could win anything else! My sis still has the bike!!
