Those people had no idea that they were about to hear one of the biggest hits of the early 70s

I frikken love how he has to introduce Rocket Man... now all he has to do is play the first chord... LOL!

In my opinion the best live version he ever did of the song. It’s the only one I’ve ever heard where he attempts and hits that first high note (“high-eye-eye, as a kite by then”). He plays it very close to the studio version which would make sense given it’s the first time he played it live. Probably why it sounds so good. He gave it his all in this version. I always wondered why he never hit that high note after that, even when he was still capable of hitting it.

It is amazing how he loses his English accent when he starts to sing. One of the greatest artist this world has seen.

I dunno what it is about this song that completely absorbs and resonates with me - the sense of loneliness. the mystery of consciousness, the vastness of space, the chord structure and other stuff I simply cannot articulate at this point....

Elton's voice in this period had something magic, peculiar and undefinible, something which I couldn't find in the 80s and on!

Just imagine, Elton had no idea that this song will become one of the biggest hits ever. And now 51 years later he’s still on stage, performing this song, while thousands of ppl sing with him. He’s a true legend. Love him 🚀✨❤️

Elton was the soundtrack to my childhood. 70s music is hand-down the best.

One of the most popular songs of all time and people are just casually listening to a new song. Wow.

Elton John looks so freaking cool in this video. Fantastic live sound! I remember when lots of concerts sounded this good live. I've seen the sheet music to this song and its seriously hard to read or comprehend at first. Its a fantastic piano piece. His playing is simply incredible. I think Elton is the best rock/pop piano player of the 20th century. I really don't like his newer stuff. Too bad he couldn't stay writing like his 70s tunes.

A time without Auto-Tunes when your skill mattered. Technical ability mattered. Teeth alignment not so much. I prefer then. Bravo, to the truly talented.
