When the stock market is doing well, a lot of people assume the economy must be doing well, too. But the stock market and the economy are not the same thing, as this short video explains. #MarketplaceAPM #StockMarkets

So basically the stock market depends on the condition of the economy and not the other way around? So the economy might still be okay even if the stock market has crashed because the economy doesn't depend on the stock market wholly but on other aspects such as bonds and private shares? But if the economy is bad, the stock market will follow it down because if the economy is bad, people will stop buying stocks and shares? I just watched like eight videos on this and I have no idea whats's going on. Someone help me, please. Explain it how you would to a thirteen-year-old because I am a child and I don't get it.

Edit for a typo that was bugging me.

I'm now more confused, people buy debt? How? Why? Who came up with that idea? Can we just put everything back to zero and make a more simple and easy to understand system, preferably one that works for the people at the bottom and not the few at the top.
