Missing 6-Year-Old Girl Found Under Stairs After Being Held Captive For 2 Years

Paislee Shultis disappeared in 2019, with police suspecting that the young girl was kidnapped by her parents, who had just lost custody. The investigation had brought Saugerties, New York police to the house multiple times, before a fresh tip led to a search warrant and a detective seeing what looked like a blanket under the stairs.

I have so many questions. Who reported her missing? They must have been feeding her and kept her under the stairs as her room??? 2 years! Who is the legal guardian? This whole story is not being told correctly, why tell it if you don't know either? It's always about who breaks the story first even with no details. Terrible reporting in my opinion. I'm just glad the girl is safe now.

We really need to update the court systems cos I'm convinced that nothing will change in the faces of desperate people. Kids should be a priority of protecting and supporting not abused and degraded.

So according to other sources, the parents are drug addicts (meth) they have two children and lost custody of both. The mother went to the residence of the “custodial” parents and “kidnapped” her daughter. She brought the child to her dad and grand dad. The child did not go to school and had no medical care. She was hidden under the step with her mom when police searched the house. She was healthy, but could not read and was not getting any medical care. Her parents are technically criminals…but are more so just selfish. They didn’t do what was best for her. I cannot imagine losing my kids though.

the system is wrought with children removed from parents that shouldn’t have been. a child is a great risk of death, SA, almost tenfold, inside of the system. in many states cps is actually managed by a private company, some states contracts it out. They get $ for every child that comes into their custody by the state. it’s VERY disturbing. The group that’s affected the most by this are people with low/poor economic status.. as they likely would not be able to fight it legally.. … i have no idea why Paisley was removed, it may have been valid, it may not have. regardless the system is inherently corrupted and many people are unaware.
