C Video Tutorial 6

Welcome to part 6 of my C video tutorial. Today I'm going to cover Unions, Enumerated Types, the Designated Initializer, Using unions in Structs, Recursive Structures, Linked Lists and much more.

I'm also going to experiment with a new style that is more interactive and I hope it feels more like a classroom setting. Throughout the tutorial I will constantly insert brain teasers. Hopefully they aren't distracting. I do this every once in a while to try and improve.

Thank you :) Yes I figured since everyone else makes slow tutorials that I'd be different and make fast ones. i'm glad you like them.

I try to do my best :) Feel free to tell me if I didn't make topics easy to understand though. I tried to teach in a new way. Feel free to tell me if it didn't work. I very much appreciate constructive criticism.

Thank you very much :) I kind of enjoy my little community. I'm very happy to have the roughly 1, 000 devoted viewers. I feel like I know them which is really great!

Sir, You've made me habitual. If I have any doubts, first I search whether you have  covered it or not.
Thank You.

It is fun for me to play around with new ways of teaching. I'm trying to figure out how I could constantly quiz throughout the tutorials while also moving along at a good speed. I'll revisit unions and pointers as the tutorial continues. Very few people are able to follow a tutorial like this. That is why I'm positive I have the smartest community on YouTube :)

Thank you very much for taking the time to say you like the video. It is sometimes hard for me to tell if I'm doing a good job. In this tutorial I have been experimenting with a few new ways of teaching. If there is anything specifically you'd like to see, feel free to leave requests.

Hey Coach, just wanted to quote Churchill here who aptly sums this channel's intellectual generosity

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Yes my goal with every video is to make everything easy to understand while keeping the viewer engaged. I still haven't come close to perfecting the style, but I continue to work at it.

I have to admit I really love C. I know some people think it's way too archaic for our modern times, but I just really like it.
Arduino+C sounds intriguing I must say. :)

I used to write device drivers a few years back so I know assembly, but I want to put it off until I cover basic electronics. I think it would be more fun to cover then. Thanks for the request :)

I haven't decided yet how much I'll cover. I will definitely cover the entire core language. If I would do a GUI tutorial I'd want to go cross platform and cover GTK+ or qt which aren't covered very often. I don't know if anyone is interested in that or not?

That is coming very soon. Don't worry I'll cover everything

A block in memory is big enough to hold the largest possible value. This tutorial has a few quizzes in it to make you think about why we get the results we are getting. I explore not only unions, but also how we can be tricked into thinking things while programming. Re-watch it from that perspective and see if you can figure out what is going on. I made this video to make people think about programming on a deeper level.

Thank you :) I'll definitely cover those topics. Thank you for the requests

Thank you for the compliments :) If you don't know any other languages it is better to start with an easier language like python. Python is really fun to program with and it is pretty powerful.

Ever since stumbling your Java tutorials (not really into that, but the tutorials are excellent either way) I have been waiting for some C (or C++) goodness from you.
And bloody hell, I have not been disappointed, really great series, Derek!

Thank you very much :) Im really enjoying this series. There are so many fun project based tutorials I could make with C. Ill be bouncing back and forth between C and Android for a while. I have been thinking about maybe getting into Arduino with C. I'd love some input from you guys on what you'd like to see

Next semester i am tutor at my university in Ger and i have to teach my course C. I think i will refer thereto it is pretty well explained and the most difficult thing in teaching is to find a way to explain something in a way everyone understands.
