What's the first thing we should do with this beast?!

As a Caterpillar retiree, I want to thank you for supporting our spare parts business! 😁 Good luck with the latest piece of Cat hardware! I'm impressed at how well you tackle the issues as they pop up. Hopefully you won't have to draw on those skills too much.

This morning I watched diesel creek bring a D8 dozer home, now ambition strikes bringing one home. Mad appreciation for y'all bringing old iron back to life.

Just got done watching Matt from diesel creek work on a D8H then I got to come over here and watch you get a new D8H delivered. It’s been a great day for this old iron lover.

Riley, if ya haven't done so, you may want to contact Matt at Diesel Creek. The two of you share having D8 Cat bulldozers that are a little long in the tooth. I am sure the two of you can help each other getting your dozers working better.

This was one of the best "will it start" videos I've seen in a long time. Talk about catching on the last revolution of the pony and it sounds absolutely fantastic...

How cool! My grandfather has a D8-H on his property in Oregon. Has not run in since 1990 or so. It ran great . The logging company near buy sold it to him. I remember when I was about 11 or 12 years old pushing down trees clearing land . They are so easy to understand and drive Even a well rounded kid could drive it. I was proud to be in charge of a 40 ton dozer at 12 years old. Brings back memories. Thanks for the video!

Your comments on working at 12:45 made me think of this phrase from homesteader, “Never hurried, never resting.” I’m working on this too.

When it's cold out. Fire up the pony motor and walk away for a while. Let the pony motor do its job of heating the intake and coolent of the big diesel. Remember the pony motor isn't just a starter it's also a heater...
I had to come back. I posted this and you added it yourself. You also said something that would have helped me yesterday. "Never in a hurry but always work with purpose...
I had a bad day yesterday only because I was in a hurry.

Don't feel bad about the parking brake, I've run those dozers for years and totally forgot about that thing. Congratulations on the new to you 8!

Just wanted to say, great choice on the change in strategy to start it. Sometimes you just need patience and a bit of a reset

Remember that pony motor warms up the big motor. They preheat coolant and that fast of a start up was surprising for sure. It is cold out for sure.
