So, he said slavery was evil, but owned 40+ slaves. Thought succession was wrong, but fought to defend it. So, then at best he was a coward who didn't defend his own principles. Unlike John Brown, who was willing to die to end the institution slavery. We need statues of Brown, not Lee.

yes it should be taken down. BUT should be put in a museum to remind us what not to do as a civilization.

The sigh of frustration and annoyance when he realized it was a PragerU propaganda video, is so relatable.

Wow All they did was prove that Lee was an A-hole and why he shouldn't have a statue. Good work PragDer U.

Anyone else notice PragerU played rap music in the background in a video defending racial slavery?

this video gives me hope. my economics teacher (who also teaches american government and history) assigned us a prageru video to watch and he's extremely conservative so i'm glad to see that there are teachers out there who realize how damaging this channel is

That wasn't a mask off moment, but a hood on moment

The reaction to the part about John Brown was priceless. This literally shows how dumb PragerU is on their history

What's really funny to me is that Lee didn't want statues of himself put up, so people arguing in favour of them have no ground to stand on.

Some average white farmers in the North were abolitionists, because they feared that the Wealthy Southern Plantation Owners had a Free-Labor force that they didn't have to pay.

However, during the Civil War, many Northern Boys, who had mostly never been to the South had witnessed the True Evil of Slavery and became Abolitionists fully.

I don't know WTF?! Lee was on with that quote though.

Peace. ✌🏻

I think Lee has a few things to teach us. 1st, that letting loyalty to a state trump loyalty to the U.S. never turns out well*, and, 2nd that once the fighting stopped, it was time to get over it, and move on as one, and only one, country, the U.S. (based his post-war writings). And, 3rd, no matter what you did right before #1 led you to make the biggest, honking mistake of your life, isn't going to count for much later.

* There's a move afoot in the U.S. of the here and now to, once again, promote the interests of the states above that of the U.S. and all its citizens. The Supreme Court recently limited the right of habeas corpus appeals to Federal courts even in cases of prosecutorial. misconduct in state criminal cases, and also declared that individual rights, unless explicitly listed in the Constitution, are up to the whims of each state. (And very few individual rights are actually listed in the Constitution - the founders thought saying that individuals enjoy many rights NOT actually listed was good enough, but not for the current SCOTUS.)

The title is a lie. This PragerU video is all about how evil slavery is! You lost me right there.

Squealing and clapping at your own jokes like a seal is hardly a counterargument 😂🤣

If it's true that the KKK funded the statues in the 20's, which political party were they associated with?

Have you ever voted Democrat?

A hypothetical example of PragerU Institue logic:
you know, i am a ruthless dictator but, my grand grand father freed the country and established a well developed non-corrupted state wait... no that was his friend so thats why Statues of me the overthrown dictator should remain

Statues being "taken down" or "torn down?"
