Let owners protect themselves without fear of going to prison. Thieves get away with a slap on wrist. I see it everyday at work unfortunately.

Worst thing if someone’s stealing your car, you can’t do anything physical to stop them . Just have to watch your car be stolen . The way criminals have more rights over homeowners . Police don’t care either

A machete in hand, yet we aren't allowed to protect ourselves accordingly?

A lot of modern cars that come with keyless entry, can usually have it (keyless entry) disabled by certain button combinations either on the remote or in the car. This immediately stops anyone trying to intercept the signal, as there isn’t one. You then don’t need a faraday pouch / box, and you press the button on the remote to unlock the doors. Hardly difficult 🤷‍♂️

Range Rovers (for example) have had the ability to have it disabled by the owner for a long time, but most obviously don’t do it. I don’t understand why owners don’t simply use this option and remove the threat? Ignorance? Laziness? Arrogance thinking it won’t happen to them maybe?

Yes, an alarm will help, but who looks out the window these days when yet another car alarm goes off? And what are you sposed to do when it does? ... Run out and confront 3-4 tooled up lads with nothing to lose? And in the unlikely event you do give them a kicking, Plod will be around to arrest you, instead of thanking you for doing their job 🤷‍♂️

Okay so I had my keys in a Faraday pouch which was in the fridge, ghost immobiliser and it had a steering lock yet they still nicked my First RS and I gave the old bill photographic evidence of the muppet that done it yet nothing was done and he still roams the streets filming himself stealing cars. The police do not care. Simple as.

I had an attempted theft on a previous car 5 years ago. The police did not do anything sadly, they just assumed it was some travelers and went on their way. No inspection of the car carried out, no statements taken. I spent the next year always looking over my shoulder when getting in and out of the car, in the end the car had to be sold

My German sheppard loves sleeping in my car overnight as he knows he gets treats off me in the morning.
And he REALLY does hate other people who wakes him up 😂

Fitted a hidden kill switch to my M2 nearly 7 years ago. I’ve had loads of people try and start it with the keys and failed. Cost me less than £5.

Can’t they just post a police unit at the port entrance to stop these thieves because if 20 cars turn up at 3 am in the morning worth over a million pounds that’s a bit suspicious and it don’t take a bright spark to figure that out, the security guard at the port who is just letting all these cars in has to be involved somehow

You can place as much security in the way as you like, but an armed gang will do whatever it takes for you to hand over the keys and the unlocking codes.
During first lockdown I had an RS parked on the drive. Keys in a faraday pouch.
Woke to hear banging thinking it was next door. Son came in and said he could see torchlight around the front door. I looked out the window to see a gang of 4 getting into a black Range Rover.
They had tried to break in by forcing the door jamb. And apparently tried around the back of the house.
God knows what they would have done if they’d got in.
Somehow they were disturbed luckily.

What would the police know about preventing theft? They never turn up to burglaries!

I recall a case noted on Blackbelt Barrister where a vehicle fitted with a tracking device was stolen, tracked down by the owner, then reported to Police. Police were not interested.

As someone who had their car stolen at the end of last year just after Christmas, I now have an alarm system fitted and I have a disklok, wheel clamp and pedal lock. It might sound excessive and long winded but the more things you have, especially with the visual locks, the more of a deterrent it is to the thieves to not even bother trying to take it and honestly it takes seconds to put the physical locks on and off, and would you rather take a few extra seconds before driving your car, or wake up to find you no longer have a car? The police are absolutely useless as well because realistically they already know they’re not gonna find your car so they don’t bother to look for it.

Watching this in my mid 50’s I remember when in the late 80’s early 90’s we had insanely simplistic anti theft methods costing no more than £50 now that’ll definitely stop theft like this !
We’ve become to tech centric!

The insurance companies need to start recognising these additional security systems, I've got a Ghost 2 system fitted to my car and use a Faraday box to store my keys however when I did my insurance renewal I got the feeling the insurance companies weren't interested in the extra security installed in the car to potentially give a premium reduction.
